When did they start building Camaros at the Van Nuys plant? I know a guy that says he worked there and claims they didnt start until '72. Im pretty sure it was earlier than that.

I'm pretty sure they built them the first year, 1967. They didn't build that many there, as I believe the plant was also the same one the Chevelles were built in. (not too sure about that!)
They built them for quite a few years, i'll have to check...

I believe that they began producing in '67.
As Dave stated, production was a bit lower (as far as camaros) then Norwood.
There are published VIN tables for both plants for first gen camaros....if you are curious to see the # of builds vs. time.

I had a Red 67 RS Z28 with Red Deluxe interior, tach, guages, power steering, built at the Van Nuys plant.

my 69 ss 396 came from there. in 1969 i think they built about 31,163.
