Bent one of my perches.
Combo of errors. 67 Mono spring pads on new Moser multi perches. Hotchkis 3 leaf springs w/ 9/16 ubolts.
I torqued the ubolts to 9/16 spec (90 ft/lbs). http://www.eatonsprings.com/ubolttorques.htm
However since the mono spring pad is narrower than the perch (and there are poly pads which would affect the torque), the perch bent.
From where I was sitting when I torqued, I couldn't see the perch...and I didn't notice it until a month or so later when I was attaching brake lines.

Do I need to lose sleep over this? Does it need fixing? BTW, I've already beat myself up, so no need to rub it in...
Here's a poor quality picture:

Thanks.

I don't know of anything that you could do to fix it, other than replace it. I don't think it will hurt anything but your pride.

its looks like it could hold..but i would check inside the bend radius and the outside radius, for a hair line crack/or cracks..thats a pretty good size of a bend ..unless the pic. just makes it look more then it really is..im my opinion if you really can't see it from the rear end of the car..and its not cracked and it will hold safely then i would leave it..it would just drive me crazy to keep checking it for cracks (if its that bad) ..i would just move on to the next project..

Thanks guys. Pretty embarassing to show my mistake here, but when I saw what a mess I made, I wanted to make sure it was safe. I did check for cracks, and there weren't any.

Am I not seeing your rubber insulator pads?

They're there, you can see the top one, it's shiny. The bottom one is hidden by the brake line and the angle the pic was taken. It's a bad pic...

Insulator pads are not shinny. You could loosen all up and straighten them out. Use a large block of wood or good plate for cover . Repaint . This has never happened to me on my factory perches. I have always worried about breaking the t-bolts or stretching the u-bolt or even stripping... Need the long nuts here.

Thanks. What do you mean 'block of wood'? to help straighten? -Scott

Something to take the hammer pound or a metal plate to help distribute the hammer impact to straighten up that bow in the perch. And not make such a mess in the paint but will prolly have to touch that back up anyhow. If you have a large C-clamp, loosen up on springs and clamp it maybe you can straighten it out like that . Its gonna take lots of pressure. Surely the metal is not that soft.
