hey guys, i have a 68 convertible and im almost ready to put the door glass back in but theres 2 plates of metal that hook under and screw to the inside of the door that have a felt on them. The felt has worn a hole from years of use. Can you buy the felt? i havnt seen it in ricks cataloge. They only have the inner felt for the adjustment. This felt is on the outer part of the door for the glass to rub on. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

you can buy the felt material seperately and cut it to fit. You might try one of your local interior shops.

Walmart sells 4x4 sheets of felt in the h/w section. That's what I used.

I had an old black seatbelt laying around that I used. The original material reminded me of seatbelt webbing, so that's what gave me that idea. I cut out some pieces to match the shape, and used a 3M adhesive to put them on the metal plates. They should take one heckuva lot of wear before they rub through again...

It's really more of an industrial strength velvet than a felt. I got a scrap of something similar to the originals at a furniture material shop. I like the seatbelt webbing idea, too.
