I have a general question. I have a 67 RS convt. with a 327/210 powerglide. Why would Fisher Body need to include powertrain information (engine, transmission) on the cowl tag. Is there anything FB had to install on the body that related to the drivetrain. My cowl tag correctly includes all body information but incorrectly shows a 4sp transmission and a high output engine. The origional owner has verified that the car was built as a 327/210 powerglide and the POP supports this also. I have concluded that the cowl tag is only reliable for the actual body related information and the powertrain that was actually installed was controlled by Chevrolet. rjphil

there were details needed in the body build process that had to match the original customer option order
can you post a picture of the trim tag?

Like Joe said, the cowl tag didn't "really" show what engine was in the car, but...with each type of engine, there were related body modifications and or paint differences to be made to the car that F/B needed to do to the car before it went to the other side to get it's drivetrain installed. There are some similarities between drivetrains as well that a couple of them got the same codes that leads some folks to believe the car is one that came with an engine it didn't. For example, Mid-Dec of 67, the 327/275hp cars (L30) when combined with the M20 option(4 speed manual) brought the car up in performance enough for GM to decide the car needed the radius rod (and supporting modifications to the body) like the 350SS cars were receiving, which earned the L30/M20 the 4P stamp in the cowl tag. If you're tag has the 2L on it (4spd), and originally came with a PG, that's pretty interesting. If you can't post the picture of the cowl tag and POP, you can email it to me and I'll post them for you. clwilcox30@hotmail.com

Here's the pictures of Bob's car he emailed to me.

Hopefully Danny/Kurt/MarkC will chime in.
I am relatively certain the car is origional. I bought the car in 1998 with 86,000mi. I have talked to the origional owner who sent me documentation on the car.which matches the features and mileage. He sold the car in 1993 and the car was body off restored. It has the origional sheet metal and was never damaged. The car is a pure 327/210 auto. 10 bolt and no radius rod. I cannot believe anyone would take a high output 4sp and fake a garden variety 327/210 auto. I think Fisher Body mismarked the cowl tag. rjphil

Yes, every option on the cowl tag required a Fisher feature to be added to the body.
Out of thousands of 67's we have data on, we've never seen a tag showing options that weren't on the car.

You asked about 3 years ago: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=24932
I stand by my original comment, one of the tags has been swapped. :(

That thread was a good read. Thanks Kurt for finding it. Bob, did you ever look up the hidden VINs? Here is a good pic of the cowl tag (http://www.67rs-ss.net/misc_images/BobPhillips/cowl2.jpg).
