Hey all I just wanted to pass on some good info. My '69 has a th350 w/ 2600 stall converter, cooling lines to stock radiator and Autometer trans temp gage. I was getting trans temp readings up to about 230° when hotdogging around town. I was about to breakdown and buy a trans cooler when I ran accross TCIs racing trans fluid that advertised a 30° drop in temp. Yeah right - I was skeptical of the hype but I needed to change the fluid anyway so I bought a gallon from Summit for under $20. I'm happy to report that my temps this past weekend cruising never got above 195°. Anyone else ever tried this? Is there anything I should be worried about?

I don't know if you should be worried or not but if those results hold I'm interested in changing my fluid too.

When you changed it how much of the old fluid did you get out of the transmission before you refilled it? I'm assuming you just mixed the new fluid with the old.

Where did you see this? I'd like to check it out?

The TCI/BTE fluid is a step up. I also like the Mobil 1 synthetic. You'll usually see at least a 15* drop of in-pan fluid temp with a full synthetic fluid. Stay away from Type F... it has less lubricity than a Dexron/Mercon fluid, and it's pure bunk when people try to tell you there'll be slippage without Type F. NOT true! Been there, done that.

HO69 - I just drained the pan (about 4.5 quarts) - they said no issue with mixing with what was left in the converter. The only negative I have found is that it doesn't have the red dye like normal so it is difficult to check the fill level on a chrome dipstick!!

Thanks Jim

I figured you must have mixed it, I sent them an e-mail asking about using it for street versus racing to see what they say. If they repay I will let you know.
