You've got that right! :D:D:D ssdanny69 Aug 14th, 06, 01:30 PM I remember vividly the first time I met KZ. He was atop a church steeple ringing a bell. kz1000ltd Aug 16th, 06, 12:34 PM  foreverlookin Aug 16th, 06, 01:59 PM How come I feel as though I have missed out on something?! BelAirBob Aug 16th, 06, 02:22 PM Awe geez..... This must have been some of the "Best of Shrek and Donkey"! kz1000ltd Aug 16th, 06, 06:39 PM It was. It just got completely out of hand because we started talking about poop. Can't do that on such a "family oriented" sight. God forbid some youngin' get online and accidently see a thread with the word "turd" or "doo-doo" in it..........good grief. Oh yea, and I posted a picture of the character "Fat Bastard" from Austion Powers. No kid would ever see that anywhere..........like on TV! No need to chastise me Dennis, I just disagree with you on this one. I know this site has rules. I will abide by them. I'll go sit in the corner right now. BelAirBob Aug 16th, 06, 07:36 PM Yes, NUMBER TWO and stay in that corner until you learn your lesson! Ooops, guess I can't say "number 2" :) Riiiggght! http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b339/belairbobs/dr.jpg kz1000ltd Aug 16th, 06, 07:37 PM LOL :beers: sthoma10 Aug 16th, 06, 07:47 PM Not knowing what to look for (other than the rivets being all messed up)--how is it so clear that this is a fake? ENP Aug 16th, 06, 07:52 PM Nice looking car and a reasonable price, IMO. Car would probably fetch 45-50K at B-J auction. I don't know much about trim tags but that tag looks brand new right off the press. DjD Aug 16th, 06, 07:53 PM It was. It just got completely out of hand because we started talking about poop. Can't do that on such a "family oriented" sight. God forbid some youngin' get online and accidently see a thread with the word "turd" or "doo-doo" in it..........good grief. No need to chastise me Dennis, I just disagree with you on this one. I know this site has rules. I will abide by them. I'll go sit in the corner right now. I chastize you not John unlike you towards me when you don't agree... DjD Aug 16th, 06, 07:56 PM Not knowing what to look for (other than the rivets being all messed up)--how is it so clear that this is a fake? It's not something anyone is going to provide the clues. Basically everyone has learned by taking the time to compare known good tags with known fake tags. Once you discover for yourself the fake will stand out like a sore thumb... sthoma10 Aug 16th, 06, 08:00 PM Sounds fair. Thanks RamAirDave Aug 16th, 06, 08:17 PM To add to what dennis said, its not for the sake of "we know and dont want anyone else to", its just that we cant discuss it in a public forum, where the guys making the fakes have the same access to the info. Can we get a sticky put up in this section for the "Fake Tag Disclaimer"? sthoma10 Aug 16th, 06, 08:29 PM I understand completely and agree to a point. However, it might be worth thinking about going in the other direction—broadcasting every know cheating clue to both help the guy off the street make an informed decision and make life hell for the bad guys. A good friend is a serious coin collector and cheating (e.g., making 3s look like 8s, changing mint marks, etc.) is a real problem especially now with Ebay. The way they deal with it is spend hours on their lists showing people where to look and what to look for. In this way they try to self-police the hobby. A thought anyway. RamAirDave Aug 16th, 06, 09:00 PM That has been brought up several times here also. The general opinion here is that if we point out everything wrong, then they will know what to correct. foreverlookin Aug 17th, 06, 08:02 AM How can I know if my suspicions are correct if I can't ask someone who actually knows? ssdanny69 Aug 17th, 06, 04:37 PM I'll learn someday and not take the bait from John. I'm truly a very handsome guy. DjD Aug 17th, 06, 04:56 PM How can I know if my suspicions are correct if I can't ask someone who actually knows? Ah you see that you can do... The one's here that know are more than willing to to say yay or nay if you post a tag... Gary L Aug 17th, 06, 06:15 PM How can I know if my suspicions are correct if I can't ask someone who actually knows? It is really not that hard. Once you pick up on a few things it is instantanious to differentiate. I am self taught from loking at real and fake tags (1969 only). It helps to go to shows and see tags in person. It is best not to really discuss what you are doing with the car owners. I have conversed with other TC members face to face about restamp tags. Focus on 1969 tags because that is where the action is. kz1000ltd Aug 17th, 06, 07:17 PM I'll learn someday and not take the bait from John. I'm truly a very handsome guy. You're half right, handsome. foreverlookin Aug 17th, 06, 09:01 PM Well I will have to make a point of running into some TC guys! |
