Help I removed the gas tank so I had to disconnect the fuel level sensor.

Now, a few months later, I don't know any more which socket I have to use.

The problem is that it's not all original.

There's a double socket with a (light) brown wire and a (dark brown?) black wire. My sensor has a light brown wirw and I think this is the original color. The mass black wire has a ring connector to screw to the chassis.

I'm 98 % sure that I have to use the light brown socket and that I cut the black mass connector years ago and installed this ring connector.

So the question is => Is the light brown wire from the double socket the right one?

Thanks for help!

Next time I should look for my digital camera.

Just turn on your running light and check and see which side of the plug has 12 volts and then turn them off and that will be the tag light and other side will be your fuel sensor. Good luck Jerry

I'm not sure what you mean by "mass black wire", but I can tell you what I think you need to know.

The 69 rear light harness has a side-by-side double female socket connector in that location, with a brown wire and a tan wire. At the same location, but terminated in a ring end (by the factory) is a black wire.

The tan sending unit wire plugs into the tan side of the rear harness connector, and the license plate light lead plugs into the brown side of the same connector. The black ground wire gets connected to the rear brace right there with a screw.

So, your thinking is correct.

Wait, I get it..."mass" is "ground". Now I understand. :)
