In my quest for a decent $10K car... I found this one that is stated to be a Non SS Car/350/350 Cortez Silver/Black Interior/AC/Buckets/Console . I'm going to look at her today. Check out the rivet soldering... Does that look tampered? Some pics here: http://theguitarweb.com/1969camaroz28.htm

Thanks,
Rich

Rivets look ok to me. Just a sloppy caulk job. Why would someone fake an
X44 car? What is the VIN? We can see if it lines up ok....

Solid car for 10K IMO.

IMO it looks OK to me also. Solid for 10 grand. Like said above who fakes a X44? I would say it was built on early Monday morning or Friday at the end of the shift..........

Rivets look OK to me too.
It's possible over the last 37 years that someone pushed on the caulk or picked at it.

I like the distributor decoration. ;)

Chuck,

Yeah, still on Nextel still same number ending in 3009. There is pretty poor signal where I live now, so keep trying.

Tag looks fine. What's the VIN? I'd be interested in the axle code if you find it. Good deal for $10K.

The 5 leaf springs on the other car (Z?) are not originals, they are repros. Axle date looks way off for the car. So not much to go on (not that it's relevant, since it's not the one you got). :)

Thanks! The car runs and drives fine, just needs a complete makeover is all! That should keep me busy for a few years at my pace... I gotta finish up the drywall and trim work on the house first! Ha!

So Kurt, from what pictures you saw, do you feel he other car may have been a fake? The seller gave me a real strange vibe... swore up and down it was a Z and had all this heresay of local experts statements... I did not feel comfortable... anyway, the VIN here is 124379N592502 and it has the 10 bolt in there, the single leaf... but no numbers have been checked yet. -Rich

Surely nothing to prove it's a Z.

I'd say your car was a 307 originally. Above, the car was described as a 350/350, but the shifter lens is a powerglide... :)

Thanks!

Am I the only one that thinks that this tag, at one time was pulled and forced away from the rivets, doesn't the aluminum look to be torn ? Just a thought.

that z28 on the other web site looks like a real one to me too

check the color of the top of the cowl to be sure, should be stripe color from when it was the original paint

I used to think that the rivets were soldered, I recall someone telling me that and until I posted this I did not know it was caulk. I got my six inch scale and cleaned up the messy caulk and now it looks more like all the others I see as being normal. I will be stripping this car down and replacing sheet metal here and there so it will get back to her original color (my personal favorite) Cortez Silver... I don't recall seeing any other issues other than that termite infested caulk job... and that other car with the Z28 badges had the Hugger Orange showing through all over...
