View Full Version : Those with TVS kits
lite em up Aug 19th, 06, 06:44 PM What size wheel/tire combo/backspacing did you go with? Did you minitub?I don't know if i will tub or not. There is just so much info out there I would like to hear from some with my setup. I think Jack Hodsons over on Lateral-G is sweet. He has 18 x 10 - 275/40/18 & 17 x 8 245/45/17 with a TVS . I think that stance is what I am looking for but I do not know if his is mini tubed. As always, pics would be great.
Thanks,
Brandt

Rocketrod Aug 20th, 06, 07:44 AM I am running the Hotchkis TVS setup minus the rear sway bar, which typically isn't needed on a first gen. As for the tires Jack Hodsons is running....I doubt he has mini-tubbed since that combo will fit with stock wheelwells, but you can't really lowering the car as much when you go with a 10" wide rear rim from what I have read. I have 17x9.5" with 275/40/18 & 17x8 235/45/17 (245s would fit with no problems) and I have absolutely no rubbing issues even when cornering.
Overall the Hotchkis setup is very nice, simple and relativley cheap for what you get.
Z06vette Aug 20th, 06, 12:30 PM Rocketrod- what backspacing do you have front/rear. I'd like to see a pic of your car if you don't mind. I'm going with your exact setup- both the hotchkis and the wheels/tires sizes. Thanks, Scott

Rocketrod Aug 20th, 06, 07:23 PM Front 17x8 with 4 7/8" BS (245s would fit)
Rear 17x9.5 with 5.5" BS
I'll send a few pics in the next day or so.
mktbully Aug 21st, 06, 10:32 AM here are the specs i got from the matts classic bowties...
17X8 with 4.75 BS 235/45 (front)
17X8 with 5.25 BS 245/40 (rear)
i'm also lowered with Hotchkis TVS with Baer brakes and i've been getting A LOT of conflicting information. i've been told 17X9.5 will not fit in the rear and i would need to roll the fenders. the car is a 68 vert...would that make a difference in the offset and tire size?
rocketrod...can you send the pics my way also?

thanks!
rojo Aug 21st, 06, 10:38 AM A lot of guys here including myself are running the following with the Hotchkis. Pic in sig of '69
front 17x8 4.75bs 235/17/45
rear 17x9.5 5.5bs 255/17/45
275/17/40's will probably fit okay on rear of a 67 or 68
Z06vette Aug 21st, 06, 10:46 AM Rojo- are your wheels available in the the BS that you listed, or did you have to have them made? Scott
rojo Aug 21st, 06, 10:47 AM They were in stock at Summit.

would going with 17x8 4.5BS on 235-45/17 work? the wheels that i'm looking for are available with 4 or 4.5 BS...anything more and they tack on another 70 bucks to each wheel. figure i can save a little $ with the .25 difference.
rojo Aug 21st, 06, 02:08 PM I'll take a look tonight but I think it's really close on a '69. It should be easier on your '68 since the wheel well is rounded. Maybe one of the guys with this setup on a '67 or '68 will chime in.

if that .25 inch would make it in w/o body work for the fronts that would be great.
i know the rears are out of the question for the 4.5BS so i'll suck it up and buy the custom BS.
rojo Aug 21st, 06, 05:42 PM Well I put the "eyeball" on the '69 and the '67 and if I had to "guess" I'd say it would work on the '67. But....... the '67 isn't lowered else I'd swap wheels take a measurement and tell you for sure. So, if you're not in a hurry I'd say wait a day or two and see if someone else has an answer.
lite em up Aug 21st, 06, 06:54 PM Thanks for the help guys. I would like to hear from some people with 67 or 68. I want to go as wide as possibe naturally, but this is kind of like a gamble with $2500 in wheels & tires. I would mini tub but I am not excited about all the extra expenses that go with it.
Maybe some pics with the TVS on a 67 or 68 would be helpful.
Thanks again,
Brandt
lite em up Aug 22nd, 06, 02:19 PM Hey guy's, I heard from Jack And I ordered wheels today. I got them through touring classics along with a front & rear brake kit. The only problem is that now I am WAY over budget. At least I know I will be happy in the long run.
By the way, I got Budnik Gassers.

lite em up Aug 22nd, 06, 07:49 PM I ended up going with 18 x 9.5 w/5.75" bs and 17 x 8 w/4.75BS. I won't know how it will all fit finally for 4-8 weeks when the wheels come in. I will post pics then.
