 Hi guys, trying to find out how to cut carpet at rear mount bolts, cut a slit or cut a flap & fold over bolt after mounting.

If I remember correctly, make an X for the bolt hole, then bolt the seat on top of carpet.

Cutting a x then bolting in ...bits of carpet get dragged into the threads...hassle.
I make the hole with a felt tip pen, slide a bit of wood under and with a hole punch make a neat hole.
The runners I use a little interior paint...makes them look better when the seat is all the way forward or back.
Dont put the holes in untill the carpet is fitted to all other areas.

You got it right. Cut the carpet 3 sides and bolt the rail to the floor. The flap sits over the bolt. Put masking tape down and mark on that to measure your cuts.

Lots of folks prefer to install the seats over the carpet, but the General cut the "U" in the rear carpet and folded the flap back over the bolts to tidy up the installation.

For the front feet, the front of the rear carpet piece is cut out around the feet, and the back of the front piece just touches the front seat track "leg"

I use a hot "pencil" type soldering iron to make the holes. Let it get hot, then punch a hole in the carpet with it. It sears the carpet so you don't have to contend with withe the threads when screwing the bolt in.

Let's go back a couple of years...1980...a buddy of mine had a 67 gold plain jane with gold interior. The old yucky gold carpet had to come out! The original carpet was cut at the bolt holes in an "L" shape so the flap just laid back against the top of the bolt.

Cutting the carpet would be the correct way to do it.
