I am thinking of doing a black paint job on my 1968 Camaro. I will be using the Z/28 style stripes in white. I was wondering what color the front Grill would have been on a black 68.

You can check the CRG website and probably find the answer. I would think Argent Silver would have been the original color. You can search the site as it has been discussed before.

All non-RS Camaros had an argent silver grill. All non-RS SS Camaros had a black grill. All RS Camaros had a black grille except black cars which had a silver grille. The area outside the actual grill opening was painted body color.

Thanks Mark! I haven't been around the site for a couple of years. I sold my 69Z and it took me 2 years to find the 68. I have not done any reasearch on the 1968 model but I am looking forward to learning all I can. I am doing a Z/28 clone paint job. This is going to be a fun cruiser.

Oh, a 68, my reply was for a 69. I think all 68 non RS grilles were Silver in 68. My old blue 68 had a silver grill section and the surrounding area was a satin to semigloss black. The headlight surrounds were the same color black with about 1 1/4" silver (unpainted) areas on the edge of the surround and circling the headlight opening.

Hey Mark thanks for the Photo, you know what they say about a picture's worth. I was going to paint it argent but now I can get the correct detail.
