I have 15X8 Weld draglites on my 67 Camaro.

The car has a real hook problem as it is a BBC. With street radials, it just fries the tires right off.

I'm willing to buy some wider rims and I know I need a DOT slick or a ET drag radial.

I currently have a P275 60R15's in the rear. At 7k rpm, I'm around 115. As noted above, I have no hook and subsequently I'm into 2nd gear before 60'. Its a TH400.
I run no line lock or trans brake. I just hold the break and when I get the light, I stab the throttle. I have to feather quite a bit to nurse some sort of launch. My 60' times are about 2.6 to 2.7. It has 4:88 gears.

So:
Obviously I'd like to hook better.
I'd like to get a little more mph at the end, I was hoping another inch of tire height could help.
Also, I'm wondering what you guys would do about width. Would you stay with an 8" rim or go wider?

If wider, what sort of backspace should I ask for? Its all stock in the rear. No tubbing or fender flares at all. It has single leafs and 70/30 adjustable shocks.
