My father bought a '71 camaro when I was a kid, and although I begged him not to, he sold the stock ralley rims and replaced them with something else. Years later, I found some at the junkyard on an '80, but my father says they are different than the originals. The rims from the junkyard have chrome inserts around the "ralley" holes, and he says he remembers that the originals did not have these chrome pieces. If this is true, what years had no chrome pieces? Anyone have pictures?

Also, the junkyard rims came with black bowties on the (plastic) hubcaps. Originals were silver bowties. Where can I buy replacement (steel!) original hubcaps?

The info there is not really clear on the chrome inserts around the wheel holes. I don't recall the early ones having them either.

I have a set in storage, but I can't reemember if they have them or not.

the early "square hole" rally wheels did not have the stainless steel accents, those came some time later during the later 70's

the original 1970 center caps were HEAVY die cast and had just the chromed bow tie, no darker insert

they later went to plastic center caps with the stick on center emblem because the heavy original ones always fell off on the street when cornering or hittin pot holes

ahhh i just went thru this with my car a 1971 the rims did not have the chrome around the holes and they did come with heavy center caps with the silver bowtie on them i was lucky enough to get the rims alone in 14 inche an i had to trac down beauty rings which i found thru camaroparts i believe and the centers i called everyone and endid up getting them out of a junkyard in california all 4 steel and yes one did fly off while in route to a show i went back for it i saw a set onyahoo 14 inche camaro rims i puched in and i saw a set last week good luck kilr1
