On my 69 SS-350, which has power steering, I am going to be ordering a lot of front end rebuild stuff from Performance Suspension Technology. I figured since I was going to rebuild everything, I might as well replace the Pitman arm also. From reading on this site, I reading about 2 different lengths of Pitman arms. How do I measure the length? Do I go the entire length, or do I go center of hole to center of bolt on the opposite end? Sorry to bother those of you who know, but I want to get my order right. Thanks in advance. :clonk:

Thanks and wish me luck. This will be the first time I have attempted such a thing. I have all the tools I need for dismantlement (or at least on order), and at the power plant where I work, I have access to everything I need to put it back together, plus a couple of guys there have done it before.

At the risk of offending, make sure you use a puller when removing the arm from the box. Not good to beat it to much.

No offense taken, any useful advice is welcomed. Thanks.

Check your old pitman carefully, if it's still good you may want to re-use it. The new pitman arms have plastic inside instead of metal. They work OK but under hot conditions like near headers, they may not last as long.
