I'm putting a set of Cragar S/S wheels on my '67 Z-28 and wanted to hear from those who have found a good size to run without having to add air shocks etc. I'll be running 15's all around with radials and would like both wheel and tire size reccomendations please. Back in the day, 15 x 6 on the front and 15 x8's on the rear were the way to go, but they sometimes rubbed on the rear quarter panel and I don't want that! Any reccos??? Thanks, Mark

Thanks Ace's...I don't want to modify anything on the car, so that size isn't going to work on my car. Any other suggestions guys???

First note is that the 15" cragars are still the old "unilug" one size fits all style lugnuts. This is not the best setup in the world. I would recommend you go with 16"s

The new larger size cragars are single bolt pattern with 45 degree seat conicle lugs, much better as far as accurately locating the wheel and minimizing side to side and up and down runout.

As far as sizes that are a comfortable fit on a 67-68, 4" bs on a 7" wheel in front, with a short 225 tire. 4.5" bs on an 8" rim with a 255 tires in back.

I have the unilug Cragers on my '67. 15x7's all around, BFG's 215x60 on front, 245x60 on rear. No rubbing issues whatsoever.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely sticking with 15 inch wheels as I want it to look like the cars I had back in the '70's. '67 coververtible: Do you know what your back spacing is on your wheels? Do you have front disc brakes? Any other reccos guys?

Zedder: Manual drum brakes all around, stock suspension. I'm pretty sure the Cragar backspace is 4 1/8 ?

Imho, whatever the equiv. modern tires are that were E- and G-60's back then.

To me, just the right big-n-little look..

And a 7" rim with a stock, like 3.50" or 3.75" back-spacing will probably rub the top chrome edge at full droop! Therefore get a front rim that has a front-spacing that is LIKE STOCK!!!

How do I know??????????

And remember that our old cars generally don't sit the same side to side b/c mine never has! I use my old "finger" method by just sticking a couple of fingers between the tire roll and the top of the wheel well lips on cars to check and it seems like almost all of them are off some!!

Try it and you will see what I mean....
