Does anyone make headers with a coating on them - where the coating is the color white? White headers look badass. Would be nice if you could get a high temp coating on them that was white..instead of good ole VHT header paint that doesnt last all that long.

anyone know of? anyone got? hows it stand up?

If Jet Hot isn't doing white yet, I think they will be in the near future. There was a thread on here a while back talking about new colors and I think white was one that is coming up.

Many years ago (in the early 90's) I had a set of aluminum spray coated headers that were white. They had a rough texture and would stain permanently if you got oil on them. But they held up well for the time that I had them on the car-no rust. I think they were marketed as alumi-coat or something like that...

I still have a set of headers from 1982 with that coating on them. Very tough stuff, more durable than the new ceramic stuff. But like you said, when they get stained, that's it.

really. can this aluma coat stuff still be gotten?

I dont mind the staining....in fact, it appeals to me....a nice set of white headers with some yellowing and some stains....that looks badass if you ask me.

Well, your post got me feeling nostalgic so I dug up some old pictures. The headers pictured here are the white, alumicoat mentioned above. They were" Blackjack" aluminum coated. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l320/rpiccola/1969header-1.jpgThe car...1969 Camaro SS396. 325 HP, Turbo trans. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l320/rpiccola/1969camaross.jpg The quarter panel pictured...genuine GM in the box, I bought two, they were $159 each, no shipping charges, I picked them up at the Atlantic City, NJ winter car auction.

Oh for the good ol' days!!!http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l320/rpiccola/gmquarters.jpg

You and Longarm are too young to like white headers! :p Talk about shades of the 70's! :) I had them on more than one vehicle, never thought any younger guy would think they were cool, but in the day..............

sure we wernt around when white headers were, but noting apeals to me more the lete 60 early 70s hot rodded muscle cars, with tall tires in the front, no fender wells, white headers some chessy deep dish wheels with the tires JUST stiken out in the back, gold MOROSO valve covers. ah! i love it

Oh they are still plenty cool.

I am so against the modern trends

Nothing pleases me more than a mostly stock appearing muscle car, with tall tires on the front (thank you longarm) an engine that clobbers, maybe a sun tach. some original speed decals from back in the day!! ...ahhh good times.

Open headers (white), A few battle scars on the paint/body, a clean all stock interior, a USA-1 licence plate....well boys, Id be sporting a full blown wood for that!!!!!!!!

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

The old style your talking about is called "flame Spray" and is done in many places. Look in your local phone book or on the web for a place doing flame spray near you. This place is in San Diego. I am sure if you contact them they can point in the right direction. When I lived in San Diego this place did alot of them.

flame Spray Inc http://www.flamesprayinc.com/
