I disassembled my front suspension and cleaned it. Now I’m putting it back together. I hate to use my old bolts (like the lower a-arm bolts). Can I purchase replacements at the hardware store or are they a special bolt. (Particularly the lower a-arm bolts.)
Are grade 8 bolts ok?

The body mount hardware are special. You should be able to find good substitutes for most of the rest of the front end hardware though. And yes make sure you only use grade 8.

Great. I bought a complete body mount kit (bushings and hardware).
I ask because it looks like the lower A-arm bolts are flared near the top (near the head)—but it could just be lack of rust.

The lower a-arm bolts are "self locking" so they don't ever come loose.
A reasonable hardware store substitute would be a grade 8 bolt and a locking nut, the kind with the nylon ring.

Yes, the nuts have dings/center punches on the hex's that make them self-locking..

This may be a stupid question but I’m going to ask anyway. Where do I get GM bolts? At my Chevy dealer? Do I need a part number or can I walk in and say “I need 4 ’67 Camaro lower a-arm bolts. New upper a-arm bolts, shims . . . .”
