I bought an '86 Camaro, and the previous owner has put an Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. (#1406). But the car is running rich. I think the jets are to big. Could someone please tell me what size jets I need to get, and where to get them? The engine on the car is a 350ci out of an '88 Camaro. I really need to get this done today, so if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

I have the 1479 calibration kit, but you may be able to get the smaller kit. Look at

The 1406 comes stock with .098 mains, 75/47 rods and .095 secondarys. I'm running a 1405 carb. (which is also a 600 cfm) on a mild street 355. My mains are .100 with 68/52 rods with orange springs. I just changed the secondarys from .095 to .093 to see what it will do. The acc. pump is on the farthest hole away. Car runs good @ 75 degrees and 60% humidity. Start with your stock #s and work from there. Kevin

Both I think, but for sure at idle.

if it's rich at idle, just turn in the two big screws sticking out the front of the carb. Be gentle, both exactly the same amount, 1/8 turn at a time. A vacaum guage would be handy. Checking the timing would be a good idea too.

A friend is helping me work on the Camaro, since I don't know much about cars (trying to learn though). We have already set the timing. His vaccum gauge is broken. He has adjusted the air/fuel ratio several times, but still can't get it to work right. We both don't really know anything about the different sizes of jets, rods, springs, ect. Not so much sizes as it is the cryptic numbers relating to sizes. So if someone know's what number jet or rod or spring would work best in an Edelbrock 600cfm carb (#1406) on a 1988 Chevy 350ci engine that is in a 1986 Camaro Z28 please let me know. I'm not wanting to drag race it or anything, just a daily driver sort of thing.
Please forgive my lack of knowledge, I am still learning. I just want to get this car running right so that I can sell it to start building up enough money to buy a 1st Gen Camaro.
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can provide!

I'll see you there then. Look for the Team Camaro banner, probably put it by Eric's 68 if they let me, in the pits.
