Thanks, Anthony cd playa Sep 8th, 06, 02:40 PM you should invest in a manual like this, see link, it helps me alot along with the search feature here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chiltons-Camaro-Z28-Repair-Manual-67-81-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6762QQihZ009QQitemZ 190027664646QQrdZ1 madmax87 Sep 8th, 06, 02:55 PM Anthony, with today's gas octane ratings, your car may not like the standard timing settings as it did back in 69. Reading other posts and my experience with my 302, the car runs best at 36 total which is around 12 degree's initial. Yes pull and plug your vac advance when checking these and make sure your distributor is in good shape. Cap, rotor, points. Do you still have points. Set the dwell to 30 1st and then do your timing. These 302 engines are awesome but need a little more TLC then most. Are you sure this is a 302DZ engine? W.A.C Sep 8th, 06, 02:55 PM Thanks, I do need one of those. It's been at least 10 years since I have messed with an older type car. The last was 67 Mustang with a 390. Fun car! madmax87 Sep 8th, 06, 03:15 PM See, that was your problem. A 67 Mustang. That's why it took you 10 yrs to get back into it. You won't have that problem with a Camaro. You can't stay away from them that long. LOL Actually, I would love to have a 67 fastback Mustang with a 390. W.A.C Sep 8th, 06, 03:53 PM LOL!!!!! Yea, that car was pretty dang cool. Wish I still had it. Bought it from the original owner in 1990 and sold it in or around 95. Oh well, got a new toy now. Just trying to get back into the old GOOD stuff!!! zdld17 Sep 8th, 06, 08:24 PM LOL!!!!!
