i need some advice... its dumb... but the little things are getting to me... the bolt is rusted and broken from when i took the front fender off... and it does not want to break free now... what should i do with the square nut holding it once i get it out... do you guys normally trust these old sort of things and just tap them, or would you guys make new ones? and if so is it mild steel? and does anyone know the thread size?

i dont know if the pic works... im not very good and posting pics... but its also on the 3rd page of my profile web site link thing at the bottom. its the bolt on the bottom of the rockers on the front of the car.

Pic works.

When I broke that one (and a few others) I just drilled them out and ran a tap thru.

do you know what size the thread is? 5/16? 3/8ths?

The bolt is a 3/8 x 16 or a coarse thread 3/8.

I run a tap/die on all nuts/bolts regardless and a thin smear of oil on threads before putting anything back together...
Every now and then u will get one..and it will be a critical time or place (Murphys law) it will tend to bind a little...
It seems little extra work, but in the long run, it saves a lot of time, AND bad attitudes

a little bit of Neverseize works well for this also
