I just bought Repoduction RS trim for my 68 and when i went to dry fit them to the sheet metal i noticed that the trim did not fit flush. Has anyone used the repo trim and sucesfully installed it? or has worked with it? Thanks for any help.

Which trim in particular? Today I just installed my door edge chrome, and wasnt thrilled with it at all although I did get it on eventually. Im about to do the the door top moldings in the next week or two but I dont have them yet.

Would love to know where you got yours if they arent fitting! ;)

This would be the RS trim. It extends from the Fender, accross the door, and terminates at the quarter panel and is installed by the ridge line at the lower side of the car. I have not yet tried to install my wheel well moldings or door trim yet. I have purchased my stuff from Classic Industries.

Can you tell me if the original clips bolted to the doors and fenders or were they push in's. I have what I thought were original doors and fenders my clips are bolted on? I'm told the originals pushed into the fenders and doors with a clip on both ends of the door moldings that bolted on. thanks

I have not yet tried to Bend the moldings in order to get them to fit correctly. I first wanted to see someones car with them already on first and ask how they were attached. I may have to go with bending them on. I'll give another look at it this week.

The repo parts I purchased come with clips which just push in. My car was originally a SC, but i like the RS better. I did purchase originial molings [they looked like garbage so i did not want to use them] and they had the push on style. Hope this helps Tinkerr

Thanks to all who replied to help!

I just double checked mine. The doors have the push in style and the front fenders have the nuts on the back. The quarters just have holes. I'm guessing somebody changed the clips on the fenders at some point. It's odd they would go to the trouble of using bolt on clips instead of the push type.
