Just a curiosity if anyone has ever seen a 1969 Camaro outfitted with lambo doors? I work with a guy who has done this. Looks pretty hot even though the body of the car is not done yet.

Lambo doors are a bit over the top for most classic car owners, not just old Camaros. Even those going pro-touring are usually looking to keep some classic styling even though the drive train and suspensions are upgraded.

I think the "Lambo" doors belong on, a Lambo.

You know, I have never gotten to open and close one of these doors (other than on a Lambo) and I just can't see them working good enough for me.

I look at the engineering difference between the two cars......it just doesn't work for me. The Lambo has a side window that is leaning over towards the center of the car at a severe angle. The bottom half of the door is a triangle shape. Both of these things are part of the whole thing working. The Camaros door is square, how the living hell can the door come DOWN into it's "hole" without hitting on the top rear corner? Plus the window goes UNDER the lip of the roof. How the living hell can this work with a door that is coming DOWN instead of in from the side?

It can't, thats how. It would have to come down and then in to work. If there is some super awsome hinge set up that does that well, cool. But I picture an afterbirth screwed up mess that you have to pull the door down then "slide" it in somehow. Sorry, hokey is all I can think of.

I would have to see one in action to believe it.

ive seen how they operate. they actually open outward a couple of inches then swing up. i dont like the looks of them. they also are in the way when you get out because it doesnt go up far enough. plus since it only swings out a couple of inches, its like squeezing though a door thats open a couple of inches. the ones that i see, ususally on imports looks sturdy as they hang but i did see ford truck with it. it looked flimsy as it rocked back and forth suspended in the air. look at the pic of the escalade in the link that larry b posted. you dont have much room to get out. 1st gen camaro doors are heavy. i dont see how it would fair very well with the mechanism. i agree with martin an they should stay on a lambo.

I agree I would say there alright for pimp my ride type crap, you know bling bling, or the european sports cars they came off of. No way for any classic muscle. You might al well put some spinners on and maybe a tv in place of the grill.( I actually now a moron who's doing this on some 80's car he's pimpin out, truly stupid.)

The thought of it makes me ill as well. But I am not saying what I am about that part, I am saying it doesn't work. If you want.....I can't hardly even say it.."Lambo" doors on your 69 Camaro, plan another mod to get you off because the "Lambo" style opening doors won't work on this car. It is like wanting it to fly, it can't be done realistically so forget about it.

brian, i have seen plenty of these lambo doors. though i dont like them, i think they can be adapted to just about any vehicle including camaros. they placethe pivot point near the top of the a pillar and the door. with it swinging out a couple of inches, it clears the jambs. in july 06 camaro performers on page 94, there is actully a nicely done lambo door on a forh gen. camaro. they integrated the t-top to the lambo door so it also pivots at the inside portion of the t top and by the a pillar. again, with this car, there really isnt any room to get in and out because the door is in the way(unlike an actual lamborghini.) i still dont like lamo doors on camaros but the one on camaroperformers is one of the best that i have seen.

When I say "work" I mean "work" to my satisfaction. :) Pushing the door out and then up is hack to me. I looked at a Ford Expedition with this mod at a show and I was very impressed with how well it worked. But again, the fourth gen vet as well as this Expedition have no roof gutters and the roof is MUCH smaller than at the belt line so the window leans in so much more than the 69. The rubber seals BEARLY work on the 69 Camaro as it is, I can't imagine the screwed up water and wind leaking mess you would have with this "Lambo" door conversion.

It is like I said, it is trying to make something out of something that isn't. I am all for custom mods. I have chopped many tops, suicide doors, section bodys, lowering, shaving handles and on and on. I LOVE body mods if done in good taste and "fit" the over all theme.

There is NO "theme" the "Lambo" doors are following without other equally SERIOUS body mods. It is just a dog and pony show to me, it doesn't "fit" anything other than the "Bling" of "Lambo" doors. That just doesn't work for me. Not when they operate so cheezy. A real Lamborgini Countack or Diablo doors work very smooth just as good as the hatch on your wifes mini van. http://static.flickr.com/43/87946535_7150c24ae8_o.jpg
It looks like on this Camaro the windows would have to be down to open and close the doors, that is HACK in my opinion. http://www.wickedbodies.net/Customer-Rides/cam-5.jpg

And this would be MUCH better than a first Gen. No, in my humble opinion they DON'T "work".

A couple good points there martin. To me, I never consider lambo doors (i don't like them in the first place) for any vehicle even if it's not mine, but to each their own.

They have a couple universal kits out there that will work on just about anything.
Dont ask me how i know that.

Say no to Lambo doors.
Especially on a first gen Camaro.
