Is fig. a part of the control arm or part of the actual ball joint?
Please keep in mind this control arm is off of a 83 c-10 pickup, not a camaro. Although i suspect the design is very similar if not identical to a 1st of 2nd generation camaro.

I believe that is part of the balljoint.
t least on a firstgen, the lower balljoint flange is pressed down, and the joint fits up into it.
Bet the spindle that used to be attached to that is no longer in the best of shape either!

I'd guess it's part of the ball joint cause the bottom looks like this:

It is definitely part of the ball joint.
here is a parts house pic of an '83 C10 lower joint.

That's pretty typical of a GM lower joint. I just did some on an 82, and that was what they looked like.

OK, it was the part of the balljoint. I got it out and pressed the other in.
We're cool now. Thanks for your assistance.
I didn't know where to press down with the balljoint press but it's cool now.

PT.2:
1) How to lube balljoints?
2) How often?
3) What type of grease to use? (please be brand specific as well)
