Finishing up a major resto on 67 ragtop and I'm having trouble lining up the front top cowl. It want to line up with an overhang in comparison to the passenger fender. When I flush up this portion, the hood fits way too tight to it up front. The fender to door relationship is good and the hood to fender is good from front to back. Could this be cause by a misaligned subframe? a core support which is either bent or not positioned square on the subframe? Or something else? The fenders have been replaced with NOS GM units, but inner fenders are repos. Any help greatly appreciated.

I should have said the tight relationship is between the hood and front header panel, not cowl panel.

Assuming the header is lined right with the fenders, I found on my 69 that I had to split the gaps front/back when I replaced sheetmetal. I bet I spent 20 hours trying to get everything aligned, by myself pretty much. It's frustrating working with the tolerances of these cars.In the end, I couldn't get the gaps as tight as I wanted without winding up with a large one somewhere. I've read where some people weld metal to make for a better fit but that's another story. My beater Tracer has better panel alignment!
