OK....I can pick up a new hyd roller from a buddy for $100 bucks. Brand new in the box. It is on a billet core and has the cast iron dist drive. Here is its specs...

246/254 at .050
306/316 adv
558/558 lift
112 lobe sep

This would be going on my current combo in the sig. But I would be willing to change some things on it to make it work. This is a Trickflow cam that comes with there HOT street/braket kit. They say 9.5 to 10.1 comp but I know it would like more. If I stepped up the rear gears to 3.89's and went to a Victor Jr or Super Vic would this cam work better than my current combo?? My current cam specs are 274/280 with 236/242 on 110 501/510 lift.

Here is what I was thinking when its all done...

408 sbc
Pro systems 750DP
Super Victor
246/254 hyd roller 558 lift
10.5 to 1 comp
Full msd ignition
AFR 195's
1 3/4" longtubes
2.5" full mandrel x pipe 40 series flows
9" with 3.89 posi
26" rear tires
TH400 3500 BTE stall

Imho, a 308 cam need's like 12 to 12.5 to 1 to run it's best!!

So I guess that I am saying that it is WAY too big for 10.5 to 1 CR. even though it will run at that low a CR.

And again, imho, I'd run either a decently sized solid lifter or a solid roller cam like say at 285 to 290 advertised duration at your present CR. with the S/V intake b/c I figure it will like some real rpm's even if it is on a 408 motor!!

How far am I off guys??

The bottom line is not what it will do
but what do u want the car to do?
Its a waste of time building something that u are not going to use it for...and visa versa

Street strip car that runs mid to low 11's. Runs on pump gas. Dont care if it has a rowdy idle. Car will see some freeway from time to time thats why I did the Gearvendors.

Imho, I try to match my cruise rpm with my compression so that I can run pump gas, otherwise a "knarly" cammed motor that will see limited street duty can get by with octane boost but at a price!

And when you add the OD, you eff. change your cruise rpm of your cam.

Please consider ALL this.

That cam and a super victor will be fine on a 112LS.
You can mill the heads to get the comp closer to 11:1.

You mean, "heads of the pistons", but then he will probably need to completely go through it and probably have to rebalance it too.. As alwys, jmho..

67RS502, Thats pretty much what I was thinking. I talked to Artie at trickflow today and he seemed to think it will work great with the combo.
I dont plan to tear my motor apart right way but for 100 bucks I can go wrong. When I do do it I will bring the comp ratio up a bit and run the steep rear gears since I have the GV now.
