I'm sure there will be someone though. jeff_gates Sep 13th, 06, 09:51 AM I installed the Wonder Bar. My leafs were shot so I decided to give it a try. It functions just fine, I only drive the car on the street. Remember that it will lower your car by 2 inches. Also the Wonder Bar frame hit my exhaust as it went over the axle. I ended up cutting the exhaust just after the muffler and put two down pipes on. Because of the sound bouncing off the ground and back up the car is really loud. Also, when I went to install the Wonder Bar frame support it needs to mounted on the out side of the frame and my frame was very tight to the Wonder Bar. I was able to bolt one side in then I made a puller screw and connected it to the Wonder Bar and the rear leaf spring mount and I was able to use a dead blow and the screw to pull the Wonder into position. For the puller screw I use an acme screw OSH sales them as rods. Days like this I’m glad that I have a mig. Oh, I amost forgot, if you use this kit, don't forget to move the brake soft line to the left of the diff so the pan hard bar doesn't pinch the line. pdq67 Sep 13th, 06, 07:40 PM I gotta ask?? What's a "wonder-bar"?? The last time I heard that term, it meant an automatic tuner-bar for a radio back about 1956 or so.. An Olds 98 radio had it, I think.... pdq67 jeff_gates Sep 13th, 06, 08:19 PM hay pdq67 www.fatmanfab.com page 23 It replaces the rear leaf springs with coil over or air shocks. Jeff cody Sep 13th, 06, 10:12 PM No offense to anyone installing anything from them, but everything I have seen that they make is junk, most of it is not about any type of performance improvement, but more about looks than anything. I installed a set of their control arms (upper/lower) on a firebird, and they did nothing to improve any geometry improvement whatsoever, just stock replacements. Not only did they do nothing to improve the ride, they also have the spring pocket to low, and with the hothckis springs, when you jack up the car you can hear the top of the spring unseat inside the frame and pop back when you lower the car, oh and this was also partly due to the fact that the upper arms had no provision for a upper bump stop which allowed the upper control arms to hang down too far, and also contact the frame. Save this stuff for the trailer queens Not only that but the first pair of arms were designed improperly and the plate that the coil spring locater was bolted to on the lower control arm bent and tweaked and threw off the entire front suspension. THey replaced them at no charge but we still had to take them back off which was a PITA clwilcox33 Sep 13th, 06, 10:16 PM No offense to anyone installing anything from them, but everything I have seen that they make is junk, most of it is not about any type of performance improvement, but more about looks than anything. Do a search on fat man fab there is a lot of talk about it. Jeff |
