I work for a chevy dealer and I got to service a new zo6 vette with the new LS7 427 ci 505 HP engine and a six speed trans today. This thing is just WICKED FAST!!! If they offer this combo in the new Camaro it is going to be one heck of a combo. I read somewere that the same team that did the GTO was working on the new Camaro. While I don't care for the looks of the GTO it is one of the nicest cars I have ever driven, great ride and handling and very comfortable. I think this is going to be a great car.

I believe the Holden division did the gto but I could have swore I read they had given the camaro to a division in canada. Anyways the Ls7 in the camaro will be sweet and if they can give me a solid axle and make it weight way way below 4000lbs I'll be getting one.

For the record, the GTO was done by GM Holden in Australia. The GTO was actually a rebadged existing Monaro Coupe sold mainly (exclusively??) in Australia. New safety regulations killed it for the states....

The new Camaro is also being designed by GM Holden in Australia. It is off the new "Zeta" platform from which a few other derivatives (mid-size sedans...) will be built.

A Canadian assembly plant got the job to assemble the vehicle. To my knowledge, GM Canada is in no way involved with the design / engineering of this product.

I've driven the new Z06 too and "wicked fast" is pretty accurate. I wish I could say more about what I saw on our test track today (not the camaro... sorry - just a test "car") But I can say you should start thinking of how to describe something that is more than wicked fast --- Holy Horsepower, Batman !!

To say that GM has some 'exciting' products in development is a huge understatement.

What they need to do is put the same engine that will be going into the Z07 Vette into the Camaro :) and then send the Camaro out to Las Vegas and let the folks over at Nevearez Racing Products install the following:

Some car nut out there somewhere has the system in a Black 2006 Z06 so be careful if you pull up along side him

I believe the Camaro chassis is Austrailian design and the body is designed here in the USA :D

I'll agree that the C6 Z06 is one bad automobile. You can't touch the creature comforts and performance for under 100K IMO.

I have read the exterior body panels were designed here in the USA at numerous sources.

If you are refering to who actually fabricated the panels on the Silver car, I assume that was done here as well by looking at the pics of the car being assembled in Warren, MI.

Now I have heard rumor that there are more cars then the Silver working model and the red clay version. There is the Orange/Yellow car being used to film the Transformers movie that isn't a complete copy of the Silver car (just look at the interior and the wheel covers & lack of visible calipers), and I assume there are versions in Australia being used for developement, but I have yet to see any pictures surface of the latter.

Yep, drove one, best ride I've ever been in, so I bought one. With the 18 in wheels and in the right color, I'd say they look almost half-decent. If the new Camaro is anything like the current GTO, it will be a winner and must-have drive.

I wonder if you are talking about the reported 650HP supercharged Vette? That would be beyond "wicked fast" even if it goes for over $100K!
