I recently saw an ad for a NEW gauge panel, which replaces the front cover of the center console on a 1969 Camaro. This panel will fit four, 2 1/16" ROUND gauges (similar location to the ralley gauge package but for round gauges not rectangular).

Unfortunately I can't remember which magazine that ran this ad and I haven't come across anything remotely similar to it.

Has anyone seen or heard of such an item?

Like Mike said Auto Meter makes them and they are in the "New Products" section of the current Super Chevy. I ordered one from Summit ($36) but they said I won't get them til June. I've never liked the 3-guage pod that I hung underneath the stereo...

Does any one know if the '68-'69 Camaro gauge package is the same as the '69 Nova? My Nova's original gauge cluster pod has 2 little "fingers" or tabs that engage the console at the rear (closest to the shifter) and the front is attached with 2 screws. Can anyone advise of any wiring problems encountered while doing the swap?

Does the AutoMeter temp gauge use a specific sender (other than stock)?

Does the oil pressure gauge use "standard" flexable feed line?

Do most folks use an Ammeter - or convert to Voltage?

I would assume you use the existing wiring harness for the fuel gauge.

Sorry to ask all these questions but I've never used anything from AutoMeter but their Tachometers.

Has anyone installed one of the console pods. They look great but I was concerned about the quality. I agree with Kevin, I never cared for the three guage aftermarket cluster under the dash. My interior is original with the only exception being the guages, this would be a perfect solution to help with the "original look".

If the console gauge mount is anything like Autometers piller mount it should work fine as long as it isn't used as a foot rest. I don't think the housing will be as strong as the factory gauge mount but it is not really a stress point.

I've got the package and it looks and fits great (see photos linked in "interiors"). The only complaint I have is the attachment. There are four plastic screw bosses with metal inserts that are "glued" to the bottom. You will have to be very careful not to overtighten. Other than that, great product for the money - $210 for everything, including all electric gages. Should be able to tap into existing gage harness or run your own wires without too much difficulty. I can't say how they perform yet cuz I won't have my '69 on the road for awhile. I'm just accumulating parts for now.
