Hello.. I recently purchased a 69 camaro that has a 350 / TH 350 installed. The engine was rebuilt, but it feels tired and is smoking a little oil. I have a 427 tall deck block that I want to use. I need to know what must be done to the heater core area? Is it true headers are a tough fit with a tall block? Any information is needed and greatly appreciated. I don’t mind a little work, but I don’t want to cut up my car. I would like a 500 + pump gas motor. Thanks.. A

Sheboygan34 I'm in the middle of switching from sbc to bbc also. So far I have had to change my heater core, outside heat box,& motor mounts. I bought a new outer heater box and come to find out the boxes are just alike all you need to buy is the heater core gasket and retainer then use a hole saw to drill for the heater core tubes. as far as the tall deck headers have no clue:clonk:

I was able to maintain my Heater box as is, but I didn't install a tall deck. Headers could get exspensive if they need to be custom made. I'd call hooker and see what they say. Tall decks are common place in drag racing. Usually the tall deck works in your favor, however if you use after market heads they usually raise the exhaust ports 1/2" which would be almost and inch total. They might be too high to clear the under side of the car.

I also have a question relating to the big block tall deck. Will the motor with the valve covers on clear the power brake booster on a 69 camaro. Anyone have experience with this. Thanks!
