I searched local ebay and told a guy who had a project that i couldnt afford what was in the ad but if he would happen to own or know of any other projects. He told a friend of his that had a 68 and he kept calling me. Well it was an out of the area code number so i didnt answer it thinking it was a wrong number so after a week of ignoring i answered. Well im very fortunate because it was the owner of a 68 project. He told me it was the last time he was gonna call me since i havent been answering so im very thankful for picking the phone up (must be a sign?) or i might not of ever gotten a Camaro.

I found my '74 (since sold) in a guys garage when I had my Jeep. I wasn't looking, and he wasn't selling at the time. I actually was looking for a 350 to stuff in the jeep when he said he was going to sell the engine from the camaro (not original). We made a deal, but I rolled my Jeep and sold it. I ended up buying the camaro without the engine and built it from there. It was an ex-drag car with arched springs, a 12-bolt w/4:10s and no hood. I stuffed a 400 in it and made a nice stoplight dragger. I loved the body and would kill to have the car back now that I know what I'm doing.

I call my story "Meant to Be"
Found a 69Z on ebay back in 2000. Actually here in AZ. Went to look at it. Had a ZZ3 engine at the time. Correct M21 and diff. No rust. Always a AZ or Ca car. It had been sitting for quit awhile and it seemed pretty slugish. I later found out when I parked it, the emergency brake was on. Couldn't see the light as it had a column tach on it. Thats my sons favorite part of story. Anyway watched the bid on ebay and it went nuts. Saw my car go to someone else. I wrote the guy and thanked him again for letting me drive it and gave him my number in case anything happened with the transaction. You guessed it. The winner and runner up couldn't come up with the cash. He called me and I made an offer and had the car the next day. Currently has the correct 302DZ (not numbers matching) and all engine compartment components. I don't know if you ever finish a restore but I love it.

I had been searching for a muscle car for about 2 months. Looked at a few Chevelles, Camaros, and the like. I saw an add in the Auto Trader for a 69 Camaro Plain Jane that was local, so I called on it. So the guy picks up, I ask if it was still available, and he said,"Nope THAT one is sold." So it sounded like he had more than one Camaro. SO I ask him, and he says,"Well, i've got this 67 RS/SS I bought a year ago and was planning on retoring it. But I wanted to finish my 68 RS Vert before I started that one." We keep talking, and the guy ends up living 12 houses down on my block! I've seen this guy drive around for years, always had cool cars. So I looked at the car a couple times, it was indeed a real RS/SS with the correct engine. The engine was rebuilt about 30k miles ago, and when they decked the block the VIN went with it. But all the other numbers matched up. It ended up having a orginal 69 Z/28 Aluminum Intake Manifold, that ended up selling. And the guy through in a 67 Deluxe Rear Folding Seat, which I sold also, and some other parts. I paid good money for the car cause the body was straight as an arrow, and it was a CA car with near no rust. So 6 years later it's almost done. Just needs a new headliner, stereo, and I want to put a TKO with a Moser Rear End in the near future.

I found my Z11 at my last base right in the in town of Warner Robins GA in 2001. I ran an Ad when I was in Germany about a year from coming back to the States looking for a Z11. I had guy mail me about one that was posted on trader online around the Atlanta area. It was a column shift car that came with all NOS Metal. Later I found out that I was going to Robins AFB in GA and I called the guy to see if he still had it? Sure enough he did. So on the way home from picking up our car from the shipper in the Atlanta area, we swung by to look at the Z11. It wasn't all that bad. Didn't need the NOS sheet metal except for a floor pan. We struck up a deal for 9500 and I was waiting for my check to come in the mail to give to the gentleman in exchange for his ride. I was bragging to my new work mates and showed them pics of my soon to be new Z11. One of them told me they knew of one just like it at a body/repair shop there in town. (Warner Robins GA) Being a Pace Car Junky, I was dying just to look at the car. When I went home that night to change outa my uniform, a message was on the machine, that the guy decided not to sell the column shift car. I was kinda bummed, but cruised to the body shop only about two miles from my house. There inside I saw the car covered in dust and a tired greasy motor on the stand right next to it. The owner had several 69's in there and pics of all the cars he has done. I asked him if it were for sale and he said, "boy did you come at the right time. I have a bill that I can't afford to pay and something needs to go". He told me the engine on the stand came with the car, but he knows noting about it. I wiped the slime off the filter pad and had an instant boner. I asked him how much for the car and I agreed. I handed him the cash right there on the spot and drove it home immediately. He wouldn't sell me the engine, but I didn't let on to knowing it was the correct engine for the car. About 5 months later and constant once a week bugging, he was once again in a pinch and sold me the engine for $500:)
