The technical term is flip flop http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif Kidding. Alot of people call it by different things.
ie Flip Flop, Candy (believe it or not I have heard this in alot of southern shops , go figure) Really though it is unanimously called a pearl coat or mirage paint (no not pearl color. it is a pearl coat of a different shade/color sometimes in the clear sometimes in the paint). There are many different intensities of it as well as colors. THats what they use for "ghost" flames and stripes on cars where they want to maintain the natural color but have some added flair. Check this: http://cararts.com/ they have alot of these types of paint they are expensive however!
Anybody else ?

Actually, the paint SID is referring to is available from about 6 of the major paint companies (all calling it something different). You can get it in DuPont, PPG, R-M and others. It is made from an outside source and formulated to the above paint companies. It is either concentrated or not. You will know by the price. PPG is about $35.00 a ounce, and Dupont is about half that. Keep in mind though the PPG stuff has full coverage in about 2-3 coats, while DuPont takes about 5 coats. Works out to about the same price in the long run, unless your only using it for a "ghost" effect.

I would definitly go with PPG if you are going to do this paint scheme. In my opinion they are the BEST. Check out some of their sites and ask them for some information. You will more than likely get alot of sales/marketing BS but you will probably get some good info as well. Also check with your local paint shops. Prefferably custom shops as they use these types of materials more extensively and will have a greater knowledge of what can be done with what and how much.
