19HoosierDaddies67 Sep 27th, 06, 01:36 AM Your car looks awesome, great job so far. I still think that is a good idea to do the Z/28 convertible tribute. 20 years from now people will think that they were actually built, aside from the one for the big wig.
DOUG G Sep 27th, 06, 05:48 AM 1 of 1 made and now cloned ? Should be huge money ???
If a COPO/Z28/Yenko gets cloned it sell for about ?? half to two thirds the money ???
ChevyThunder Sep 27th, 06, 09:43 AM Lookin good.. what did you do with my old fold down seat ? Tell NJ that he never got back to me on the valve covers I needed
Vintage 68 Sep 27th, 06, 09:54 AM 1 of 1 made and now cloned ? Should be huge money ??????
Call me a purist, but should'nt a 'clone' of the 1 of 1 be the same color ...
DOUG G Sep 27th, 06, 12:44 PM ???? I guess it could be, but who would know.
Everett#2390 Sep 27th, 06, 01:34 PM ???? I guess it could be, but who would know. Those who know of the original.
wagonman Sep 27th, 06, 01:42 PM i should be the same color, but my cowl tag is the color of my car is le mans blue.i dont care for green anyways. also mine is a rally sport.
im not trying to fool anybody anyway.
im just making a car that chevy should have produced. besides, mine is better than the original.....:) sorry mr.maynard.......
DOUG G Sep 27th, 06, 02:34 PM true, but only about 1M of 300B or so :D
musclecarjohn Sep 27th, 06, 05:05 PM Wow...beautiful car,great job...love the flat hood look!
wagonman Sep 27th, 06, 06:34 PM thanks, i love the flat hood also.since its an early car(3rd week of jan) it will have the hard to find 302 emblem on the fender.and as we know all 1968 z/28 only had the flat hood.
the disk rear end is dated k-15-7.
the mo 302 is dated VO103MO jan 3rd 1968
i think the tranny is dated dec 2 1967

Gary L Sep 27th, 06, 08:18 PM im just making a car that chevy should have produced. besides, mine is better than the original.....:) sorry mr.maynard.......
Probably would not have worked too well for Trans Am racing as a conv.
Beautiful start anyway. I am partial to that blue.
RamAirDave Sep 27th, 06, 08:26 PM LMB/White Z stripes, RS, no wing windows.....
Gets a big  from me!!
ZZMike Sep 27th, 06, 09:15 PM Nice looking car. Where did you find the correct early/mid '68 4210 carbs for the crossram??
wagonman Sep 27th, 06, 10:08 PM ok i actually have 4295 carbs.....

RamAirDave Sep 27th, 06, 10:11 PM Just a thought....
Think its a good idea to assemble the front cap without the engine and the weight of the car on the suspension? Or is it just in mock-up stage?
wagonman Sep 27th, 06, 10:23 PM this body is going to stay together. the crossmember is in.i'll install the front and rear suspension, then the drivetrain.this is the safeest way to avoid chips ahoy!
i will use a snap on coil spring compressor to install the front springs since i dont have the weight of the engine to help me.
after the car is on the ground with all the weight, i will then tighten all the suspension bushings like the controll arm bushings and leaf spring bushings.
RamAirDave Sep 27th, 06, 10:30 PM My concern isnt with the suspension, but the front cap is going to shift after the weight is applied to the car.
wagonman Sep 27th, 06, 10:57 PM hmmm...... i hope it doesnt shift to much..i'll watch out for that...
will it shift nose up or nose down?
probably nose up.......huh?
RamAirDave Sep 27th, 06, 11:00 PM Yeah, likely the front of the sub will move upwards since the weight will be added in the center. It wont move up.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock ya or detract from your project. I think it looking really good right now and the finished project will be awesome.
Just a thought/opinion, nothing more
BadV6Blazer Sep 28th, 06, 01:01 AM Sweet.
Someone needs to make a ZL-1 Vert.
How about a Yenko Pace Car?
That would be cool.
nikkisdad Sep 28th, 06, 01:19 AM That is some eye candy there!!! Its a trip back in time with the 63 Nova wagon sitting there. Is that Nova for sale? Its pretty nice.
wagonman Sep 28th, 06, 05:18 PM yes it was..
i sold both of the novas over the last 2 weeks.the wagon and the super sport hardtop. i gearing up to get a 1969 rs/ss 396 350hp conv.

Everett#2390 Oct 16th, 06, 04:34 AM Awesome!
bil1024 Oct 16th, 06, 06:39 AM WOW!!!!!!!!!!!NIce work
Unreal Oct 16th, 06, 07:42 AM Beautiful job. I normally don't nit pick, but since you are doing such a great job, I thought I'd note something minor. I'm not sure if 68 was like 69, but in 69 the swaybar brackets had little tabs around them to help hold the bushing in place. I noticed yours were just formed strapping. Should they have the tabs? If so, they are all over ebay right now. $10-15 per pair.
Awsome ride!!!!!
To the guy who said COPO/Yenko clones are bringing 1/2 to 2/3 the value of a real one.........that's not what I see. Very good clone examples are bringing 15-20% of a real one. Real Yenkos are bringing north of $250, and COPOs are bringing just south of 250.
I would agree that a nicely done Z/28 clone, or SS clone might bring 1/2 of a real one, but the "specials" are outpacing the clones by a wide margin.
I have a 69 Yenko Tribute....errrr, clone. Pretty correct, except for the A/C, including a CE coded COPO motor, (No BE rear, although I'm looking) and it's insured for $55K. I naturally follow Clone prices, and they go from $20 or so for a stripe job, to I think $60 for one with correct engine and rear.

wagonman Oct 16th, 06, 05:32 PM yes these are the original 68 swaybar brackets..hey guys keep the nit picking coming...
im a good guy and will not be offended.i will correct all that you experts find....there are many things that i have already corrected. did anybody notice that the headlight doors are not highlited? their changed.
do 1968 z/28 have a special swaybar? did you guys notice the real jl8 disc?
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS THING WILL BE WORTH?
1969 Camaro Dude Jan 17th, 07, 03:58 PM Way more money then I have.
JOE58 Jan 17th, 07, 05:49 PM I wonder if the factory built 68 Z convertible had a larger dia. front sway bar?
A larger dia. front sway bar was available in 68 as a service part and Yenko used them on his special 1968 COPO 9737 Camaros.
The Chevy engineers who built the 68 Z convertible may have added the larger bar for Estes when they added the cross ram and other parts.
big mike Jan 17th, 07, 07:16 PM yes these are the original 68 swaybar brackets..hey guys keep the nit picking coming...

KevinK7 Jan 18th, 07, 06:08 AM ...that car looks awsome
...just curious what color interior (and top) your planning to go with??
Since you asked to 'nit-pick' (and I'm NOT trying to, ..the car is gorgeous), ...two piece rotors.
Blade Jan 18th, 07, 06:13 AM nice car. Its coming along really well.
