I have planned all along on going with the BF Goodrich KDW series tire. While researching this tire for final decision making...I'm now leaning toward the GoodYear Eagle F1. I know they are more expensive than the BFG's, but the reviews are way way better.

Anyone here have any first hand knowledge of the Goodyears? What about the BFG's?

Thanks

I have the F1's on my car. Not the new wizbang race ond, the g1ds or something like that, with the v-groove tread.

They corner great.
Wet road traction is as good as dry.
Straight line traction is a problem, may not be thier fault tho.

The KDW Dry Traction ratings from Tire Rack is an excellent 9.0! After looking at 6 different models I'm myself am trying to decide between the G-Force KDW's and the Kumho ECSTA SPTs. Obviously mileage is not very important to me I just want good looks and good traction. The Kumho ECSTA SPT have a great look and the reviews have been steller

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW
235/45YR17 - $104
275/40YR17 - $164

Kumho ECSTA SPT
235/45WR17 - $79
275/40WR17 - $107

Others I did consider below but treat pattern is not 'aggressive looking'

Kumho ECSTA 711 (High Performance Summer) 320AA
235/45HR17 - $66 at Tirerack
255/45HR17 - $80 at Tirerack

235/45WR17 - $87 at Tirerack
255/45WR17 - $106 at Tirerack

Fuzion ZRi (Ultra High Performance Summer) 320AA
235/45WR17 - $87 at Tirerack
255/45WR17 - $104 at Tirerack
275/40WR17 - $108 at TireRack

Avon Tech M500 A/S (Ultra High Performance Summer) 280 AA A

Well I just ordered the Kumho ECSTA SPT, $413 SHIPPED from Tirerack.
Kumho says the SPT model picks up where the Supra 712 left off providing even better performance. They are actually a few dollars cheaper than the Supra 712 models too.
235/45WR17 - $79
275/40WR17 - $107

Also just ordered my rims, American Racing Torq Thrust 2 Polished 17x8 (4.75bs) and 17x9.5 (5.5bs). Karen had them IN STOCK including the custom rear size and will be shipping them Monday for $985 out the door with lug nuts and valve stems. Seller is on ebay as gonefishing69 and biggjdoggparts, 800-731-4870

That's a good price for the tires Brian.

Last week, while waiting at Sam's club for my wifes' car tires to get mounted, I noticed that they have 275/40/17 BFG KDW in stock. $675 mounted, balanced, road hazard, and free rotation. Not a bad deal at all for that tire.

Keep us posted on the Kumho's.

Does no one look at Toyos? I used to be a Toyo dealer, and I thought they made a very good product for the price.

Late to the party I guess.

I run KDW's on my daily. They handle great in both dry and wet weather. However, the GS-D3 Goodyears are in a class all their own. They are like gumballs.

Well the new tires and rims are installed. I drove it around today and love the ride. Looks like the Kumho are going to work out just fine. 235/45wr17 front and 275/40wr17 rear, plenty of clearance front and back, no rubbing. On the rear the inside has a good inch clearance and the outside has a good 1.5-2" clearance to my rolled lips. Previous owner ran 295s
17" American Racing Torq Thrust ][ Polished 505s
Front: 17x8 (4.75" backspacing) - 5x4.75 pattern (American Racing 505-7863)
Back: 17x9.5 (5.5" backspacing) - 5x4.75 pattern (American Racing TT2 custom)
17" Kumho ECSTA SPT 235/45WR17 Front and 275/40WR17 Rear
