Picture this - start up, get out of car to adjust idle speed screw so that you can adjust float level in 850 holley carb (on 85 camaro) - nahhhh! not so easy engine dies ;

turn idle screw up and start again - idling fine but high start to open sight hole - dies;

adjust float by seat of pants - then start fuel flies all over - turn it down, idles good but float level probably too low - dies again!!!

back and forth - back and forth - and you get the picture - I almost thought it was laughing at me!!

Any tips for a one man team on how to get engine started and idling after carb overhaul - so that you can set and tune the damn thing??

I actually gave up for today!

Any help out there - tips - besides the obvious "duhhh, get a friend!!!!" would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

remove the fuel bowls and flip them upside down, set the float level to have the top of the float level with the upper edge of the float attach screw hole bosses that are viewable inside bottom of the float chamber.

Set the idle mixture screws one and a half turns out from seated.
