Hi folks - I am in the process of planning to go the Pertronix changeover route on my 67 RS (basically stock 327/275). I'd like to add the higher output Pertronix flamethrower coil as well. Since the coil is in the 40 000 volt range and is hotter than stock do I need to go to 8mm wires? My thoughts are that I should, but when I look at Pertronix wires for sale they offer a 7mm "stock look" wires set that they dub to be "flamethrower wires". Thanks to all who respond....

I run the setup in my car great product! I did not go with their big coil though...I went with the normal coil they sold with their sytem at the time (3yrs ago) I have had the car all over (Hot Rod power tour's) and have thousands of miles on the car I ran their wires for a couple years (7mm) I have since switched to a Taylor 8mm black I would buy the 8's from the start I don't know how big that coil is that they are sellin ya, but I really see no need..... the pettronix will cut the spark down to what it needs anyway.....you'll see in my sig... I had this dynoed with their flame and put down over three hundred hp on the rear tires.... good luck with them I have had nothing but good to say........Tom

Look for the Flamethrower Mag x2, they are 8mm and give a nice stock apearence from 5 feet with the white writing on them. Nobody ever had problems with Accel Super coils and 7mm wires so if you can't find 8mm I doubt you will have a problem.

I'm running the Flamethrower 45K coil with stock 7mm wires and so far no issues with them. If I had to buy a new set though, I think I would go with the 8mm.
