Hey there guy's i'm new at this webiste and this is my first post, i have a question about my 95 camaro v6 3.8, the oil gauge is not working properly i already changed the oil pressure sender thining it was that but nothing changed, the problem with it is that the needle is always pass the 120 mark in the oil gauge and when the car is started ( for about 1 second ) the needle goes back down to normal possition then it goes all the way up pass the 120 mark, so i really have no clue whas going on with that any tip's or advice will be greatly appreciated.. thanks guys :)http://www.camaros.net/forums/C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures

Your oil pressure gauge is monted in the main dash pod so you would have to take the dash apart to get to it. Did you change oil recently? Change weight of oil? I ran 5w30 in my '96 SS when I had it and used 10w40 once and saw the oil pressure jump up about 20psi across the board.

Sounds to me like you have a possible wiring problem. Correct me if I am mistaken but an open circuit on an oil sender would send it to full pressure. Follow the wires from the oil sender and make sure they have not been burned or pinched.

hey guy's i followed the wires and one of the wires are pinched looks like it was burned or something, but im not sure if its the oil pressure sender wire because theres lke three other wires next to it in that plastic tube where the wires go, but think that myght be it, how would i fix that problem?? forgive me if i dont know, but this is my first car, so im trying to get the "hands on experience" on this, meaning alot of questions! lol........ thanks guys.

You need to strip back the plastic and replace the bad wiring. Make sure you replace it with the same size wire and use the correct quality connector. Go to you local GM dealer or parts store and they have water tight connectors that you can heat to seal the ends. Be a good idea to by a good connector crimper and wire stripper. Finally make sure to rerout or hang the wire loom with some type of clamp or tie strap to keep this from happening again.

You will want to do a proper repair of any skinned or broken wires but to prove out if this wire is your problem seperate it from the other wires and cover the skinned section with electrical tape and then test to see if your gauge works properly.
