My father in law has a Pontiac Firebird -69, the rear is changed to a camaro rear. It must be a 68-69 (just monos on camaro 67?). Canīt find the code, looked at same spot as on chevelle rears right side axle tube. Is it located some were else on Camaro rears? Or do I just have to look better?

Pass side. I found mine crawling under the axle and looking back out the rear of the car, on the axle tube closer to the differential (Within a foot). Hard to see, My stamping was very light, suggest a wire wheel grinder.

I agree. It is difficult to spot the code. You may want to jack the car up under the differential and support the vehicles weight with jack stands. You will have to look on the passenger axle tube. You must be looking out toward the back of the car like (looking toward the back bumper instead of the front bumper). The code is stamped closer to the differential than the drum. I had to scrape the paint off the rear end on mine. Luckily the paint was starting to flake off so I just used a screw driver, some brake clean and some steel wool and found it. It is a big pain/extremely difficult to find though. Good Luck!!

Thanks looks like itīs location is same as on chevelles. Shall try to scrape more next time. On my 2 chevelle rears I found the code easily, one throw 2 k epoxy paint and the other by scraping some rust of.

Yes same spot on all chevy rears...It may be up abit on the tube or down abit on the tube or abit left or right...But it is alway between the spring perch and the housing center section on the front of the passenger axle tube. Jim
