: Guinn's Engineering X-Ram Documentation
ZZMike Oct 5th, 06, 12:27 PM Has anyone here done this?? I ask because I have sent him pictures of the carbs and he really wants to see the crossram. I am just really nervous about doing this, especially if it has the history he claims it to have, damage and theft during shipping being my primary concerns. Here is a quote from a recent email:
Michael
Homerun... Based on the date "854" you have a significant piece that without a doubt left through the "back door" and was used by an insider team. I may be able to nail down the team using the manifold dates and parts component configuration
Let's get this done... It deserves having a correct and accurate history assigned since it is a significant piece of Chevrolet Engineering and SCCA T/A racing history
Wayne D. Guinn
What would you guys do??
Thanks,
ZZMike
clill Oct 5th, 06, 01:48 PM Send it to him...
Jeff H Oct 5th, 06, 02:06 PM I wouldn't hesitate sending it to him. But then I live close enough to deliver it in person. I've met Wayne and he's a great guy. Your biggest worry is going to be the shipping company.
ZZMike Oct 5th, 06, 02:21 PM I agree completely, Waynes character is not even an issue. I am more concerned about what happens between here and there. I guess all I can do is insure it to the gills and pray like crazy...:clonk:
JOE58 Oct 5th, 06, 04:30 PM Guinn's had a nice cross ram display at Carlisle this year. Check with them to see if they plan to do other shows. Maybe he will be at a show in your area and you can bring your cross ram to the show.
thewebb1 Oct 5th, 06, 07:51 PM Don't even think about shipping it. Murphy's shipping law states " the more valuable the item the better chance it is at getting lost!!!
clill Oct 5th, 06, 09:50 PM I thought you meant he wanted to see pics of the xram. I would not ship the xram...
ZZMike Oct 6th, 06, 08:30 AM He wants me to ship it to him, and I am really nervous about it. As I stated earlier, it is not that I do not trust Wayne, it is the shipping of it that concerns me.
JOE58 Oct 6th, 06, 09:21 AM Why Can't he work from detailed pictures or video?
I would be too nervous to ship it out because it can not be replaced. If it got lost, even with insurance, the best they would do is replace it with a repop.
ZZMike Oct 6th, 06, 09:41 AM Hmmmm, good idea. I'll ask him. I even thought about flying with it, but I'm not sure how long he needs it, or if I could even get it carried on, I am not trusting baggage handlers with it, either.
I'll fire him off an email and see what he says.
Thanks for all of the responses, if you have an opinion or idea, don't hesitate to post it up, thanks.

I agree with the others about not shipping it to anyone for 'research' purposes.
If he needs pictures of a certain feature/mark/variation than ask him to submit that information request and offer to furnish informal or formal/professional (at his expense) pictures and documentation to him - that should and has sufficed in all cases I've had so far.
If this is a particular feature unique to your unit he is wanting to see, then I would imagine it is worth someones time to travel to your location at some time to document it.
Specially if they intend to use the documentation for their purposes or business.
As always JMHO's

hmmmmm......why does he want to have it shipped to him? he could do just as much with any detailed pics.he can ask for pics of certain area's or casting marks etc.......
send him pics instead...i dont care if he was god.....
DO NOT SHIP IT!!!!!!!!!!!
ZZMike Feb 20th, 08, 01:41 PM At this point the x-ram has not been documented. We played phone tag for a while and I never got a straight answer about sending him pictures versus the entire unit.
Mark, I am terribly sorry to hear what happened to you. I wish you all the best in acheiving a positive solution.
bertfam Feb 20th, 08, 01:54 PM You guys do realize this thread is almost a year and a half old, right? What's done was done long long ago (in a place far far away...)
It appears to me that Mark dredged up this thread to complain, not to offer any real viable advice.
Mark, I don't know the circumstances between you and Wayne, but a public forum isn't the place to vent. This has happened many times in the past with absolutely NO good ever coming of it. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see your threads removed by the forum leaders. "Vendor bashing" isn't allowed on this site.
However, if you are having issues with a supplier, restoration shop, etc..., the best way to resolve this is either by contacting the person directly, or through legal channels if you still can't get the problem resolved to your satisfaction. These guys are business professionals and live and die by their reputation. I can guarantee that they will work with you to resolve the problem(s). Be careful what you say on a pubilc forum though. I've seen things like this turn ugly real fast!
Update: As I was typing this, ZZMike responded to the original question on if he should send Wayne his manifold or not. ZZMike, I ask that you try calling again. I know the information we as the "Camaro comunity" could get out of this would be very valuable. Good luck and let us know how things progress.

wagonman Feb 20th, 08, 02:49 PM THAT IS FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iluv69s Feb 20th, 08, 04:20 PM Hey ZZmike...whats the date on your intake?? Is it dated 68?? I have an April 68 intake...It has many odd features..it wouls be neat to compare... thanks, max
Gary L Feb 20th, 08, 06:36 PM wagonman, don't worry. There is nothing wrong with carrying a thread forward, since there was no resolution to Mikes question. The poor thing was the guy joining TC just to dredge this up to complain.

clill Feb 26th, 08, 10:07 PM Did the Camaro ever get finished or am I gonna see it at Carlisle ?
69dz4me Jul 5th, 09, 06:59 AM They tried to get my NOS crossram intake. I was very suspicious and started looking and asking around. & YES, I bought Untold secrets! Then I heard of and actually witnessed first hand a few NIGHTMARE experiences about GUINN
Character is definitely questionable. I have personally experienced VERY BAD (in my opinion) character, ETHICS, and morals. I would not trust this company with as much as a bolt from my car. I also understand that Untold secrets was self published by Guinn. Spend some money putting a book together calling yourself the official authority????
There are too many nightmare stories about this guy & company to ignore. Search the web, you'll see for yourself.
1968Motion427SSNova Jul 5th, 09, 09:27 AM 302Crossram/Mark,You posted about Wayne Guinn and your personal "Bad" experience. Is this about the 1969 Camaro Z/28 already painted the wrong color you initially bought from someone with the intials KP on the Yenko site??
jd502 Jul 5th, 09, 08:06 PM Warren if you still have some question PM iluv69s. He's had alot and currently has xram and prototype xram items he may be able to help out.
Give him some time to answer you he travels alot. What is the date on your xram?
