BBC with TBI was offered in all half and 3/4 ton trucks since 1988. The 454 has been offered in all one ton and 40/50 series trucks since 1966, though most were carburated until '86. All truck engines after '76 have "Peanut port" (225cc intake ports instead of the larger 255cc oval ports of the 350HP 396) heads with small valves.

Dave, that is an aftermarket TPI setup, not a GM TBI.
I can;t see why you can't use it.

You still have to buy an ECM, pre-programmed chip, other sensors, and wire harness, maybe ECM controlled distributor, unless the program is N-alpha, relies solely on rpm and throttle position, I think.

Right! The only EFI offered for the BBC besides TBI is the marine variant which GM puts on the ZZ502 now, or the choice of Holley's 950 Commander, or Edelbrock's Victor Jr. manifold with a 1000 cfm throttle body and port injection.

There are so many options for an EFI big block, only limited by your imagination. That particular unit is a tough fit with the stock cowl hood, although it can be done with trimming. Any number of regular intakes can be used with a 4 barrel throttle body, or a 90 degree adaptor and monoblade for a different look.
