Top is working fine.BUT went I put my down and up I smell transmission fluid buring, No leaks in lines or at the motor.
Is this trouble I smell! motor burning up.

BTW its on my Chevelle.

Stupid question but is the car running at the time? with the top down your letting fumes into the cockpit that could be from a tranny leak.

If not my guess would be the motor seals are bad.

After just replacing the entire top system in my Camaro which is not that fun BTW, you have 3 choices:

leave it alone until the top stops working
pull the motor and replaces the seals
buy a repro motor.

Also I would like to know if the top is acting lazy, more so now and how hot the motor gets when in use.

Pull the rear seat and have someone work the top up and down while you feel the motor. It will get warm but if its too hot you could have a bad ground or something making the motor work too hard.

I allways run the car when puting the top up or down to keep the drain on the battery to a minimum,The car has no tranney leaks,The smell just started a few weeks ago only when working the top.
The top actually is working better since the smell started. (STRANGE)
