I have access to a complete disc brake changeover from a 98 up Camaro with a 6 cyl. engine. Checking back several months through other threads on this subject, I've come accross several that have mentioned the 93-97 Z-28 rear system working on the first generation fairly easily.
My question is will the set-up I have available, work on my 69 Camaro with a 12 bolt rear end?

I believe it will bolt right up just like the 93-97 rears do but there isn't a simple answer for the e-brake with the 98 and up setup like there is with the older ones...

If I recall correctly the 93-97 used a small drum brake set-up inside of the rotor. Also if I recall correctly, the later Camaro used a simple lever that pushed the caliper piston against the rotor, similiar to the Lincoln Versaille calipers for usage as an emergency brake. Which means I would only need to come up with a emergency brake cable that would be compatible in length and ends to work correctly. My concern is that with the size of the rear caliper piston and the brake pads being so small, they might not be adequate for stopping a car with considerably more horsepower than the wrecked 99 six cylinder equipped Camaro that I have these parts on!

Other way around- 93-97 have the e-brake on the piston of the caliper, 98-02 have the mini drum. I figured it out the hard way a few years ago and bought some '99 calipers cheap, different than the '94 ones on my '68's rear. -Dan

I am told by a local source that the mini drum bolts up only when the hole are elongated a little but it will work just fine. He told me a next oversize drill bit does the trick.

I don't know, have not tried it so take my info with a grain of salt.
