There is a hole in the steering column bracket straight up from the brake pedal.

Only used with manual brakes...

I just did this r & r myself. The hole is on the left side of the column in the metal infrastructure. It is also immediately adjacent to the rear brake switch.

And yes I have manual brakes.

The power system doesn't have a spring? I ask only because I am installing power discs.

That is correct, no return spring for the power brakes. I converted to 4 whl manual disc and haven't added the spring yet. My fear was the brake lights would stay on without it but I haven't had that problem. I really should get a spring just to insure the pedal returns properly.

thanks for the info john. i didnt know that was a manual disk brake thing only. i though mine was just missing. i guess i will not have to buy those parts. why would you need them for maunual only? was there not enough pressure in the manual brakes to have them return all the way back?

Angel I believe there is a big spring inside the booster that helps return the pedal...

Manual brakes the push-rod goes from the pedal to the master cyl and if there is a bit of play between the plunger in the master cyl and the push-rod the pedal may not come back far enough to operate the brake light switch. With the spring it is sure to hit the switch each time.

thanks dennis. that makes sense. i just looked at the classic catalog. i guess they dont reproduce the spring or extension so lucky for me that i dont have to get them.
