I am building a 69 camaro 427 big block with a tremec trans. I HAVE A TREMEC OUT OF A 98 OR 99 CAMARO, but somebody told me it wont handle the 550 h.p that my motor puts out.
#1 is that true
#2 if it is where is the best deal on a new tremec complete, cause I need a driveshaft and pedals and everything.
Thanks

Just do a "search" on this site for TKO. There's tons of info. I think just about anything you want to know has been posted.

You have a T-56 trans, Not a Tremec TKO 600.

I have no experience with a T-56 behind 550 hp,but as long as the tires are spinning i dont think you'll have a problem. With traction........It will break.

I have owned TKO 600's and they take all the abuse i can throw at them.I have a friend that has gone 11.20 with one in a heavy car with no problems. On slicks !!!!! Many many times !!!!!

T-56's are made by Tremec.

T56's are strong. lots stronger than a tko.

According to classicchevy5speed.com, their T56 can only handle 450 ft.lbs as opposed to 600 ft.lbs for the TKO600.

Bry68-
To clarify just a bit, the T56 is not "our" T56 rather it is "a" T56 made by Tremec.
Wherever you choose to buy a stock LS T56 it will be the same.
With that said, there are some company's that take a stock T56 and upgrade it to handle higher torque loads.
