Hey guys:

This is my first post. A salute from Spain and please, excuse my horrible english .:(

I recently buy (with very efford ) , my dream car, a 350 SS.
The engine number are V0311CJD and the heads are 3973487, 76 cc. A little 8:5 compression, selon chevytech. They are a Edelbrock intake performer, a 600 cfm Edelbrock and headers.

My project is upgrading compression to already 10.5:1 with dome pistons type Speed Pro 0.275 dome (11.8 cc) or similar and a cam with 224/224 or similar. The pump gas in Spain is 95 or 98 oct ( 1 dollar-liter ) and i only drive the Camaro the weekend, ( i have a Lancia Kappa for the rest of the week )

Are whit this dome pistons problems whith the ( famous ) quench ?
What are the max valve lift of this original heads ?
What are the original cam of this engine ?
And the inevitable question... how many hp can expect upgrading this engine ?

A greating for all and FORZA CAMARO !!
:beers:

Welcome to Team Camaro!
How are things in spain?
Unless the engine needs a rebuild anyway O(rings, bearings, overbore?) you might be better off picking up a set of aftermarket alluminum heads with 64cc chambers to increase your compression and improve your breathing at the same time. Much easier to just change the heads after all.

Edelbrock, canfield, afr, or brodix all have good replacment heads that will really wake up your motor.

You'll pick up a pile of HP with new heads, but not as much by increasing the compression with stock heads.

They are right..set of aluminum heads would be the best money you ever spent on a SBC.If you changed nothing else, the car would still feel like a whole new animal :) If everything is pretty close to stock(gears/converter) I would suggest the comp. cams 270H with the head change, sounds good, runs good. Nice looking car.

Welcome and I bet you speak better English than I do Spanish.

Yes, you have an about 8.5 to 1 CR. motor! But more than likely about 8....

Try to get your compression ratio up above 9 to just below 10 to 1 CR. as you can get it and the CC 270 Magnum cam will do nicely.

And please feel free to ask anything you want to know about and the guys & gals will try to help you all we can.
