Forgive my ignorance....I am about to undertake the construction of a NASCAR sanctioned asphalt oval track car. I plan to use a '86 Camaro that was almost given to me. My question is this...Will the front clip from a '80 Camaro fit the unibody of the '86, and will the body come close to mounting up?

Thanks in advance for your input.

In a word: No. You could make it fit, but ANYTHING could be made to fit... these are two vastly different cars pre-82 and post '82 the '70-81 cars had a subframe bolted in where the '82 and up cars pretty much have a sheetmetal front end with an attached engine crossmember... nothing similar... the '82 and up chassis was a better handling (but much weaker) chassis anyway, I'd upgrade what you have rather than try to marry two different animals.

Thanks...I will try to brace the front strut tower and attempt to find some racing struts with MUCH heavier springs.

Also, What is the difference suspension wise in a 82 and later Z28 and a standard camaro of the same year.

Thanks,
Bill
