Here it is, its out of an 88 Chev of some kind, I just dropped it off at my mechanics place to store till next Tue. Now I just need to find a dipstick and tube and TVI cable for it all. Final price was $585 just for the tranny itself. Not bad I think.
Has anyone used the Bowtie Overdrive TVI EZ system (http://www.tvmadeez.com/1910_cam/)? Seems logical in their write up of it to super tune the tranny but these trannys have lived for decades without that too. Any ideas on the TVI differences? :hurray:

I have the TV system, pretty easy to adjust. Leave the pressure guage hooked up and you can read it anytime. It will let you know when your pump is going out or if something else is going on.

Jim, I have the BTO Tv cable and bracket set. It was super easy to install and adjust. You will need a gage to monitor tranny pressure while adjusting TV cable for proper shifts. Car ran great and shifted great with that cable set-up. It's a little pricy but worth it in my humble opinion.I've got the setup for both a Holley and a Barry Grant if you havent already bought yours, PM me. Whatever war you go, Good Luck.

The BTO TV setup is a nice piece and is somewhat performance and or perfectionist orientated. I ran a normal TV cable setup for some time then switched to the BTO setup and the difference was worth the price. Besides that the convenience factor of not having to chase parts comes in to play. Now something else you need to know. If you go with the BTO setup the pan will need to come back off so the plunger can be changed. No biggie before it goes into the car and your mechanic can install it without going back to the trans guy.

Jim - I have one of the very first TV made EZ for holleys. It's gone through changes but I haven't seen anyone unhappy with it. If you want to follow the BTO setup of the TV cable let me know and I'll loan you my pressure gauge. All you will need is a fitting for the plug on the side of the tranny by the shifter arm...

Thanks guys for the input, Jerry I have the Qjet so your parts wont fit but thanks alot I really appreciate the offer. Im going to show my mechanic the write up on the EZ TVI and see what he suggests. Im very excited about this upgrade... Just hope my cylinder leak down test next Tue. goes good and that my leaking oil seals can be replaced without going into the engine. :beers:

I used Edelbrock manifold bracket (slightly modified for more adjustability) and geometry corrector along with a GM 700r4 cable. As for dipstick and tube I believe a 97 silverado locking dipstick & tube available at dealer pretty cheap will also work in a car fine. There is also a quadrajet bracket available for 700r4 from GM.

Jim, what axle gear will you use with the 700R? Your link indicates the 3.08 was being used with the th350...

dunno... I've always wanted to go to carlisle... but what we did last year was cool cause it was just us. Carlisle is just soooo big, we'd get lost.

I think we need to start a new post in bench, get some input....

Last year you pretty much just closed your eyes and stuck a pin in the map, right?

Carlisle is THAT big! :)
It's pretty far for you guys though... but the invitation for attending each year is ALWAYS open. Maybe I'll ask Bud Scolastico to bug you guys about coming.

Got my shiftworks kit in the mail on Sat. and BTO stuff (dipstick and TVI EZ cable kit) should arrive on Tue. or Wed.
My car goes in for cylinder leakdown test on Tue. at 8am, the results will determine what happens next. If no issues show up in the leakdown, then its pull pan and timing cover, install new oil seals and then yank the TH350 out and start install of the 700R4 :) wooohooo hope to get to drive it before snow settles in too.
Wonder what Im forgetting now? This is our first major mechanical mod to our Camaro.

Good news bad newz.... leakdown was 5% to 7% in all 8 cylinders, plugs very clean, no issues in the engine which is great news but rear seal is leaking bad and front seal is very 'iffy' so that will be next BUT my mechanic got hit with tons of cars now that weather turned cold, winter tune ups and contractor trucks that were let go all summer ... he has tons of regular work that turns over quick, like a body shop. He prefers that to my tranny changeover when he knows little things will come up, maybe we might need a different part to order etc. so he wants to put the camaro back in my garage until either Dec. or march, depends on weather and how cars are working for people. If he has 2 clean days on the calendar he will call and I could run it over then. He wants to give me a good deal on shop time @$60 per hour but also not loose his bread and butter jobs, which I understand. So the tranny is on hold for now :( but I wont be driving anywhere special either so its all ok.
darn. :(

Too bad you're not closer by, we'd pop that puppy in.

Edit: And it would only cost you a few cold ones.
