I see this ad on eBay for an immaculate black 67 Yenko and his 'buy it now' is only $6500  Wierd thing is, he had no "buy it now" option in his auction. He listed his email address in the auction for ppl to contact him thru that. LOL

Anyway... emailing back & forth with this guy and it's clear he's looking for personal information. It's OBVIOUSLY a scam so he's not getting anything but email from me. Would anyone like to submit a question to this guy or have any good ideas of whom to report him to?

Here's what's been said so far...

Hello,
I am Peter Lorent and I own the 1967 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS YENKO* you expressed interest on eBay. attached are a few pictures so you refresh my car in case you looked at others. i will email you the complete description today and, if you need more pictures just let me know.
final price is US $6,500 as I said on eBay. The car will be sold only if you meet the buy it now of $6,500. i will not lower this buy it now price under any circumstance even if you come to pick up the car yourself. the registration papers are all ok and it has* US clear title. it meets all US specs.
to let you know from the beginning the car is in San Diego, Cali. i have a price that might sound low because I am in a kind of hurry and also away from the country with my job and I will not be able to sell the car in person. so I am ok with a lower price than have the car sitting for nothing in the garage till I return. I repeat: the car is located in Cali, US but I will need to come from abroad to complete the sale with you. my only request is that we complete the deal with eBay as a third party. if we reach a deal I will request eBay to be the third party in our sale.
I work by the principle that I don't touch your money until you receive and inspect the goods. i hope that you are ok to make the deal by eBay since this way is the only way that I can move forward.
since I saw a strong interest from you after I will send you the description I will request eBay to send you the invoice hoping that I can speed things up a bit.for that i need your ebay id in your full name and adress.
*Please wait for the eBay invoice and contact me after you read it with your questions.
i hope that all this info was enough to start your interest in buying my car and I look for your emails with questions that you might have.

Peter

car's title with the VIN number on it so I can insure my money. Do you have
any documentation showing this car is a Yenko? I'de also like to see a
picture of the trunk please.
You bring up an interesting point. Why didn't the other buyers purchase the
car? Even my dog could get a $6500 loan for a car.
Thanks,
Don

LOL, So what do you think? Do I sound like I have money to throw away? :clonk: Or could I be missing out on an incredible deal for an immaculate 67 Yenko that is no longer listed on ebay... for some reason.

"All your base are belong to us!"

Since he was so concerned about you having the cash, maybe you should have emailed him 6500 pictures of a $1 bill as proof.

These scammers must think we're all a bunch of mayron's.

Now that there is funny...I don't care who you are.lol Kwik, I wonder if there is some way to bust some of these guys? Isn't there a way to send some sort of attachment with the email that will ping the address and figure out where he's from? It would be great to meet just one of these fools face to face! ;)

hello to all,
I had a scammer like this once.He or she went so far as to attach a link to a motor transport company that was suppose to have the car. It finally got down to this ,I said my Brother will come there and inspect the car, once he does I'll pay you anyway you want it!. His reply, You cant see the car it's sealed in a TANK. I laughed so hard. I just cant help myself ,oh yeah they say Dont use e-bay e-mail cause it's full or broken. I do it anyway...
Take care all

Send him scanned copies of realistic looking play money. Assure him you will offer him an extra $500 if you can get this deal done quickly, as you have other scammers waiting for your money as well. Keep going and let us know when he finally quits.

The same guy had a scam auction for an AAR Cuda at $7,000 buy it now just the other day. I don't want to give these bums any ideas but it looks like they'd do better if the BIN price was more believable on a lower end car.
