I like NPD better personally, I get my order faster from them than anyone.

From personal experience classic industries may be a $1.00 to $.10 cents cheaper but they BACK ORDER every little thing... its rediclous! i once orderd a fuel sending unit i was wondering where it was 6 weeks later... called them "oh were sorry but it was backorderd".... geez thanks for the heads up not! cancelled the order, orderd it through yearone and it was at my door in 7 days... dont order from classic industries, they may be good but they kill you on shipping costs. and i have orderd from NPD there faster then yearone and just as good.

I only order from Classic when they are having a sale (which is 2 or 3 times a year) and I'm not in a big hurry. Their standard shipping usually takes 7 days or more (to NY State). NPD is pretty good. I recommend Rick's Firstgen if you have a '67-'69.

I used to be a dealer for Classic Industries. I can attest that all parts that Classic offers, another vendor has and they all get their parts from the same vendors. Its just a matter of who you like to do business with and who offers the best deal. When I was deployed to the desert for 6 months in support of Iraqi Freedom in Mar of 2003, Classic called and told me that I could no longer sell parts for them because I was unable to maintain my $1,000 monthly sales quota. I was quite pissed to say the least, especially after shoveling out $5,000 for the buy-in and selling over $48,000 worth of merchandise in 9 months. CI also has horrible return procedures for miss-sent or damaged items. They expect you to pay for there mistake. Many times I was stuck with the shipping bill or items that needed to be returned for one reason or another. The management of CI left a bad taste in my mouth ever since my return from the gulf, therefore my money has recently been sent to Ricks (because they now offer the odd parts and are honest about the Quality of the part for the purest) NPD has helped in a pinch as well. Year One is way to pricey for me especially when the same part made by the same vendor can be had anywhere else for 2/3 of the cost.Your best bet is to gather up a list and call around to see who will offer you the best deal including shipping. Quotes are free, your hard earned money isn't.

i deal with a classic industries distributor out of texas. shipping is 3-5 days to northwestern arizona. i guess i've been lucky 'cause nothing has been back ordered in 18 mos. of purchases. they do keep their own on-hand inventory. returns are quick and easy and they offer 10-20% off classic's published price. where items are "discount exempt" direct from classic, these folks offer free freight on these items. they can be reached at

I usually get my parts from National if I need a part right away. They are pretty good at keeping stock on everything. Their prices are pretty good also. If Classic is having a sale on a part or it is cheaper than National, I will order from them if time is not an issue.

The dealer in TX sounds like a good guy to hook up with. Most parts are offered to the dealers at 5-38% below catalog cost. For instance a OER Full Qtr cost the dealer 284 or something close to that and list for 420. I used to sell them for 349 a side plus the actual freight cost. It sounds like this guy is making minimal profit, especially if he is eating the shipping cost. Kind of hard to stay afloat if they are offering a deal like this. Great for the Consumer though:) If your in the market to purchase, I would take advantage of these guys as much as possible.

They just loose money on every deal but make it up in volume, LOL!

We also are distributors for Classic and Ricks, and use NPD in emergency situations because they are 60 miles away. Been distirbutors for many years with CI and Ricks. Proximity is as important as anything especially when you look at shipping cost for larger items. We do the discount thing on larger orders. You may want to check us out over at GPSuperStore.com

It wouldn't hurt for you to say the dealer's names if you are happy with your purchases from them :)

Belair Bob -- I e-mailed him with a question and he replied promptly. I called and left a message and he got back to me before the end of the day. I orderd parts from him -- he had them in stock, competitively priced and they were delivered to me in 3 business days. I consider that pretty good customer service.

Hmmm, I hope it is ok for me to respond to this since I am the dealer in question. We are JACT UP - located out of Texas - We started our business because I got laid off and my husband thought it would be nice for me to sell parts so that he could get a discount. We offer discounts as deep as possible and excellent customer service and exact shipping costs. We have an excellent return policy. You don't like it - return it. No questions. Our customers often become friends. We don't have large volume of business and I don't make a ton of money - just try to keep the bills paid. It keeps me busy and I have fun. We are a small company and very hands on. We don't have a large stock of parts, but we will work closely with our customers to get the parts they need in a timely manner. Canadian customers love us because we don't mind boxing to ship USPS to save them money.

I don't usually talk in forums, but Rich has been so nice to let people know about us that I thought I should speak up. I hope this post is ok - if not, I'm sure there is someone who can delete it for me.

Oh, my name is Cheri (think fruit)

I have been using quite a few of them. I have used Classic, NPD, SS396, Ricks, and Year One. I think it just happens to be what you order whether it is in stock or not. I have had good service from all of them, and have all of them be out of stock on something. I will have to say that it usually takes stuff longer to get to NC from Classic, but then, they are in Cal. More and more, I am finding myself using Ricks. I have made the decision that since I will be buying so much sheet metal for my 69, that I will probably drive to Ricks to pick it up. It only about 7 hours one way and I think I can save quite a bit on the S&H, but it will cost me time, but I think with 5 weeks vacation, I can find the time. :hurray:

Hey Bob -- that was just the first order -- I still need more stuff to get my project car back on the road -- my guess is that you will hear from me again :)

I used Classic when I lived in San Francisco, and I use NPD living in Tampa. NPD is in Ocala, FL about 80 miles away. IMO, there is no difference in the parts (same suppliers) and the level of customer service is also similar.

Don't forget about our sponsor - Ground Up Restorations. They also have good prices and I have received my parts quick.
