I'm looking for a very nice driver. Numbers matching isn't so important to me unless the price reflects it. I found this car. What do you guys think is too much?

Here's the info:

The car is a non X code car but is believed to be a real Super Sport with dual fuel lines, power front disc brakes, exhaust hanger plate, multi-leaf springs dressed completely in SS 350/300 horse trim. I can not prove that it is a real Super Sport, but we believe it is.

“Sub” frame off restoration
Completely repainting the entire car
Engine was rebuilt about a year ago
New interior – carpet, seat covers, door panels, headliner, package tray, dash pad

Power Steering
Power front disc brakes
Hotchkis front springs

Flowmaster mufflers
Rosewood steering wheel
Factory console
Original AM Radio
SS hood w/ correct chrome louvers
White Hockey stripe
Front and rear spoilers
Posi traction rear end – 3.55 gears
Multi leaf rear springs
New brake lines
New fuel lines
New radiator and heater core
Factory style Z28 finned aluminum valve covers
Deluxe rear bumper guards

This car no longer has the 12 bolt.

Some non stock modifications include:
Holley Carburetor
Aluminum intake(painted orange)
Flowmaster mufflers

Comp Magnum cam & hydraulic lifters
Magnum 280H Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft Only

Paint is EXTREMELY nice.
Body is very straight.
Chrome is very, very nice. Bumpers are new.
The glass is good, windshield is new, side glasses have some minor scratches.

The inside has been completely redone.

The car rides, runs, drives, stops great. It has a rebuilt engine, with some very nice performance modifications. The car is not a radical Hot Rod, but IT WILL SCOOT!!!

Most everything works on the car except the cigarette lighter, back up lights, horn, and original AM radio. All dome, side marker lights, headlights, tail lights, brake lights all work great.

The heater and blower fan work.

The cowl tag reads as follows:

ST 69 12437 (V8 spt cpt) NOR190210
TR 711 79 B PNT
11D

Built the fourth week in November 1968 at the Norwood plant, just prior to X codes.

Condition
This is what I would call a nice local show car, or even a great weekend cruiser. This Chevy will win you trophies at the local shows and cruise ins, but I do not think it will win the Camaro Nationals (though the paint might). It would probably score a fairly high score. It is nicely detailed, but do not expect a perfect “concourse” trailer queen. The underside is more of a driver quality as this car was built to drive and enjoy.

Since the car restoration was performed it has been driven some, so it does have a few very, very minor chips that have been touched up in places.

If I was going to “pick” the car, here are things that I see, the engine bay is OK, I have had better. The underside is more of a driver style, it is clean, but if you have a lift and could take the time to detail it, it could look really nice. I would replace the gas tank if I were keeping it(which I just might do if it does not sell here). The floor pans and trunk pan are original. There is a small repair on the passenger side floor board under the rear seat. There are 2-3 small holes in the trunk, not sure why, but they were drilled, maybe for a stereo or something like that, they are not rust holes. The body and pans are very, very solid. The body is about as straight as you will EVER see on a 69 Camaro. The rear quarters have been replaced as well as the outer wheel housings. The white hockey stripe is a tape stripe, so if you wanted a solid black car, you could easily make the car solid black by removing the stripe!

You need to check the VIN to see if it is an I6 or V8 car.
You cannot go by the trim tag, as this seller has, to determine V8.
Sounds like a nice car, but some pictures or a link would help get an estimated value.

Very nice looking car. Looks like a nicely done restore. The VIN does show it was a V8. The 3rd number is a 4=V8, a 3=6cy. Hard to say about it being a true SS. Not sure why he would tag the firewall an X11 without it in the TT. Whats he asking for the car?

Wow, I think that's a lot for that car. I can't remember, are you looking for a real SS?

I love the 10-10 on the firewall, with a 79 B (Rallye Green with black vinyl) on the tag. And the X-11? Factory would have done X 1. Which, by the way, would probably be written on the bulkhead under the rear seat back on an 11D car. May still be there. At least there's no "Caution Fan" sticker :) .

Other things I noticed:

- Later model/aftermarket combination valve on the brake lines under the master cylinder.

- later model GM HEI distributor, firewall may have been beaten to get it to fit.

- May have dual fuel lines underneath, or he may be confused with the dual feed to the Holley that's on it now.

- What's the engine code? In that price range, it had better not have a junkyard 305.

- On the positive side, it does have SS hood springs. That can be changed, but it does get overlooked.

I'd love a real SS/RS for sure but it seems like a majority of these cars have been cloned/converted to the point over the years that only an expert could really tell the subtle details from a thorough conversion. Assuming this is an SS, what's it worth? And assuming it's not, what's the value?

Thanks for the info!
