satz28 Oct 19th, 06, 07:26 AM When you say correct engine, does this imply that they are not born with items?
smith69z Oct 19th, 06, 07:43 AM The engine is a correct date for a 4L car. Its not matching vin. All internals are correct, 1178, heads, manifold, correct date/code carb, etc....
KevinW Oct 19th, 06, 11:19 AM Don, thats too bad :(
smith69z Oct 20th, 06, 05:31 AM Not a bad thing, I am looking forward to building the RS. From all I learned from Team Camaro and KevinW, on the first build, the RS should be a snap! But the question is whats a fair asking price. KevinW, you know the car, what do you think?
VI018DZ Oct 20th, 06, 05:46 AM I'd say anywhere from 63,000.00 to 65,000.00
Thats my guess based on a matching non original block.
Hard to say without seeing.

IMO, that's a little high for a non-orginal motor/trans car. I would guess that mid 50's would be a fair price.
KevinW Oct 20th, 06, 07:30 AM Don, I am too critical to set a realistic price. Cars that I thought were not worth X went for X+$$, especially Zs. So I am not qualified because my mind is still back in the 80s :). But I can say the work you have done to the car is very good and the new owner will not be disappointed!
But if you want me to make a guess, from what the others have said and what I have seen, $47K to $55K is the ballpark. You could always spend a little $ and have Jerry critique it.
BTW, if you think setting up the 69 RS doors is a snap, more power to you! :D
smith69z Oct 20th, 06, 08:30 AM Thanks for the information. Far more then I would have thought. Although probably less then what I have spend on the car by now. I might clean-up a few things and see what Jerry charges for an appraisal. And Kevin, I'm ready for those RS lights. I think I enjoy the build more then the drive.
Thanks again guys! You might see it in the sites "For Sale" soon.
Hylton Oct 24th, 06, 06:47 AM $40k
Common Paul -
If you had this car, you would ask 75k for it based on what you ask for your cars!
1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Oct 24th, 06, 12:57 PM Not sure which cars you are refering to?? Last non match Z i sold was $33k otherwise any other cars ive owned ive had no problems selling so they must not have been to high priced.
ChevyThunder Oct 24th, 06, 01:10 PM One meeeiiillion dollars !

Old Man Dec 4th, 06, 10:19 PM Judging by the current market for a non matching but vin correct car from what I've seen over the last year and a half $47K for a car in good shape would be on the high side, $40K to $45K would probably be closer. $55K is average for a good numbers matching Z28.

Gary L Dec 6th, 06, 07:10 PM An interesting thought from Mr. MacNeish.

Speaking as a licensed certified appraiser and Camaro master judge, a CE block is better than a restoration block (dated restamped correct block w/ original numbers) only if you have paperwork from the dealer showing the engine change. Any first-gen high performance Camaro with an incorrect engine takes about a 33% deduct in value verses a car with its original engine. For many enthusiasts, having a replacement engine is not a big deal, for others.....it is. In today's market, the average person cannot afford a pedigree 1969 Z28. If you want to have your car judged in the concours "Legend" class at the Camaro Nationals, it's about a 200 point hit for not having the original engine.

smith69z Dec 7th, 06, 07:25 AM TO give you an idea of the decrease in value, my car was appraised by Jerry
last week for 45k to 52K. He said if it had the original motor it would be a 70K + car. My motor is a date correct DZ but not original to the car. Big difference.
Gary L Dec 7th, 06, 08:31 AM I went to see your ad after I posted. Good to know what non-original motors make a car worth. Most of us are in that situation.
36j1967 Dec 7th, 06, 09:12 AM I wonder what the deduct/add % would be for examples with factory original paperwork either in combination with an original block or with restoration blocks? Does anybody know if "Legend" class judging extends a point value to paper documentation? Afterall it was "with" the car from the factory and denoted by VIN expressly for that vehicle just as the VIN stamped block component. The block assembly code will detail the engine build but not much else about the overall factory RPO's associated with the factory vehicle build. So how many points should be given to a POP, build sheet, window sticker etc. and what would be the value deduction of an original block car absent its factory paper documention? 33%, 27%, 8%,....42%
automanZ Dec 9th, 06, 09:10 AM I had my 69 Z appraised by Jerry earlier this year. It has motor, transmission and rear it was born with. Just finished sub frame off restoration - 80K - 95K
